School Hatching Eggs!Help!

Teacherchick - I agree with 'Megaputz' try and get an Inverter thingy if you can, otherwise wrap them in a blanket. I'd do that an hour before you turn off the heat so the blanket is also warm and insulating. When I take mine off the bator in the mornings it is lovely and warm and has helped to insulate the bator in a cool room. Less fluctuation.

Also; I just had a local poultry supplier/seller, bring round 6 fertile eggs directly to me. He says they have come straight from his incubator. They've been batoring for 5 days. I like this fellow, I trust him and feel if he didn't think they would survive he would not have done it. They arrived just sitting in an egg carton! And to get to me he is a good hour away. Food for thought.

On the flip side yours are in the last stage of development. Personally, I think so long as you can stop them rolling round, they'd be fine.

Teacherchick, I have moved eggs at 18 days along, and they were ok. Make sure you insulate them really well- I like the idea of putting them in an egg carton and wrapping in blankets. Especially if you could got a hot water bottle (but not too hot!) to nestle in there as well.

I'm sure they'll be fine.

Thank you all for your suggestions. However, I am worried though that I just killed them all....I took them out of the turner yesterday, filled up the resevoirs with water, removed a vent plug and then went home from school. When I got here this morning the temp was around 90 degrees. I have no idea if it never got warm (maybe because I took out the plug) or for some reason the temp dropped. If it never warmed up it may have been up to 12 hours that it was a low temp. I candled the eggs yesterday and they all had movement. I really want to candle them this afternoon to see if I can get any movement now that this has happened. I am hoping that would be ok since they would be left on the nest when the momma gets off. It is day 19 for me. I could really use anyones suggestions or thoughts at this point just to give me a piece of mind! Thanks!

Today is day 18 for me. I need to stop the turner but what I am worried about is leaving them unattended. I have them in my classroom right now, but after tomorrow we will go on a 3 day weekend (I didn't time it very well). I want to be around to monitor them when they are supposed to hatch which will be Sunday but I also want my students to possibly have the opportunity to see some action too. (Which is why I would bring them home) But, if I bring them home, I would want them back to school on Tues so the students could see. So if I had some that didn't hatch yet, maybe they would see that. Also, if they were at my house I could video any hatching that I could then show my students in case all hatched. I am worried that if I have some that haven't hatched but have started, that it could be disasterous to move them and so I would be foced to leave them at my house and the students would have no chance to see any part of the hatching process. I think that I will just have to leave them here and come down often. Maybe I can use the time to prepare for summer vacation!
why not i actually brought my incubator home the temp is at 87 degrees when i came and they were a bit shaked but all seems well they are due to hatch monday god willing and i will be going into lockdown exactly at 12;00 today at night.the temp is heating up agains!

I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. Your thread was getting more traffic than mine and alot of our concerns were so similar. You can have it back now!

I hate waiting for the eggs to hatch.
It sure does make your blood pressure rise! I am so anxious about this I am probably gonna give my self a stomach ulcer! I think if I leave them here without me I will go crazy not knowing what is happening, so..... I decided to wrap them in a blanket and take them home. I am gonna put the plugs back in to keep the air in as long as possible and then I am gonna put crumpled up butcher paper from the work room around them (I took the egg carton home unfortunately). I plan to run the heater in the car to keep it toasty as well. Hopefully all will go well, I think that they are ok cause I saw egg #3 rocking after school today.

Hopefully I didn't kill any others. What did you decide to do with yours? Were you able to remove the parts to keep the duck eggs turning and the chicken eggs still?
