Ryan watched as the girl walked into the music store next door. He turned his attention to a lady climbing out of a cab on the street. She was obviously well off...as was her dog who poked his head out of her immensely large purse.
Ryan wrinkled his nose...the dog would make this harder...he hated little dogs.
Walking calmly along, not making eye contact, he put up the illusion that he was carrying a stack of books making it hard for him to see. He bumped into the lady, exclaiming and calling out how sorry he was while smoothly slipping his hand into her purse and clamping his hand over the dogs muzzle. It bit him but he held on firmly. He fingered around for her wallet and plucked out a few dollars. Picking up his "books" all the while exclaiming on how sorry he was to the lady, he discreetly slipped the money in his own pocket, the little dog snarling viciously. The lady whacked him over the head before he could bail and called him a bunch of names.
As Ryan skipped out of the way, he smiled to himself. Job done. He sucked on his bitten fingers with annoyance.
When he was far enough away, he pulled out the money and found he had snitched two ten dollar bills. Plenty for a good meal...enough for an okay meal for two...
He groaned and muttered to himself, "i'll have to do the nice thing here...won't I?"
Running his hand through his hair in irritation he pushed his way into the music shop and started looking at a CD rack close to the girl. He glanced at her and pulled out the money. He knew it was better to get it over with quickly because he had no idea what she might do...desperate people either shunned help, begged for more, or tried to kill you and take all your money. He made sure she saw it and tucked it between two CD's and then made for the door, pulling up his hood and zipping up his jacket against the cold.
