Preston entered the clearing again just to hear Valentina say, "I would have killed that guy in a heart beat." "I'm really not that easy to kill." Preston said frowning slightly. too much self pity for him to keep his good mood. 

"then that says something about my temper and power." She said, her eyes never wavering from Dylan's. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling her temper starting to come back. She reache Ito her pocket and pulled out a black marble as rolled it in between her hands, sucking in a few breaths. After a few minutes, she opened her black eyes again and looked at them all. "Fine. But just warn people to not provoke me like that one did." Valentina said, pointing to Preston. "He obviously did something to make me snap. I honestly can say I don't know why he did. Just tell him to stay away, since he can't seem to keep his 'enthusiasm' in check." She said, making air quotes.

"The School for the Gifted. It's about three miles that way" He said, pointing "And the professor probably has other ways to teach you without getting you angry. He's telepathic so he would know when to stop even if he did try that." He shrugged "I am just a student there, not a teacher"

Valentina's chin lifted involuntarily. "Like what? Tests?"

"Well, for me it was learning how large and small an animal I can shift into, and how many. I suppose you could call it a test if you want to, but it was just learning to me." Dylan said

Preston turned and touched his hand to his forehead in a salute to Valentina. His mouth slightly curved in a smiled, though he tried to hide it. "Wellllllllll you ran into me and i dropped one of these." Preston explained holding out another small ball of paper. "I don't throw these around lightly." he said, gently putting it back in his pocket. " but, There are more dangerous things you could have made me drop, count yourself lucky!" he said in his dad's deep voice whenever he was scolding him.

 Preston turned and touched his hand to his forehead in a salute to Valentina. His mouth slightly curved in a smiled, though he tried to hide it.  "Wellllllllll you ran into me and i dropped one of these." Preston explained holding out another small ball of paper. "I don't throw these around lightly." he said, gently putting it back in his pocket. " but, There are more dangerous things you could have made me drop, count yourself lucky!" he said in his dad's deep voice whenever he was scolding him. 

"I don't care." She said icily, turning cold glare to Preston. She switched her gaze back to Ther. "I'm Valentina, by the way." She said, barely managing to keep herself from clipping the words. "People usually called me Valeri or Val. People meaning my dad. I don't know many people. Especially people long enough to come up with nicknames." She said darkly.

Dylan looked to Ther "You want to go ahead and show these three to the school, or go back for Erin?"

Spencer moved so Preston could see him "Don't provoke her"

Ther shrugged, "Sure, if Hothead will let me." She turned to Val with a smile, "See? You've got a nickname already."

"In that case, your new nickname is 'TFM', the freaking monster." Preston said completely unfazed by her death glare. "You have now received a 'nickname' by 'people'. Your welcome." He said raising an eyebrow at Spencer.

Dylan shook his head and turned toward where they had left the other girl, shifting back into an eagle to get there faster. He already knew he would need to eat and sleep for a long time when they got back and wanted to get there quickly.


Spencer shook his head, and looked at Ther "How do we get to this 'School'?"

Erin massaged her temples, walking away from the tree. Maybe my parents were right.... That was really weird. I'm still sane if i thought that was weird right? She sighed and marched on, determined to gt as far away as possible from that tree.
