Hey all, I am new here and to raising chickens. We moved out to some land last year. Got our fist chicks about 4 weeks ago. So far so good EXCEPT, one sweet Arucana chick has a scissor beak. I could tell she was not eating will so now give all of them mush in the mornings. She is able to get bites of that. All the chicks love it! I am still worried however. Her bottom beak looks loose. Like reall wiggly. Any thoughts on what is going on? Will she make it? What can we do to help her, or am I already do all we can besides taking her to vet? (Which we will not be doing)
Thanks
Tracy

. I also have a cross beak but her beak isn't wiggly. she eats and does most things fine, but she is almost always eating. I think that when the are chicks you can do some kind of chicken braces...I'm not sure how though. the mush does help, also make sure she has a deep feeder (about 3 inches deep for now) also helps. I think some other people here know how to do chick braces, so they might be some more help. just do the best you can, and it should all work out.

Sometimes this happens. it is a genetic defect. this chick will never be able to be a normal chicken. it will never have a good life . go ahead and put the chick down. I know that's hard but these things happen and it's the best thing for the chick .

don't put her down! most scissor beaks live a happy normal life. she should be fine. would someone who does knows how to do chick braces please help?

I don't have anything against you, 3riverschick by the way. I just have a cross beak and when I got her they told me the same thing. but she is 3 years old now and lives a very happy life.

She is ok. We make the mush for her and she fills up on it. I guess we will see how she does.
