This chick hatched last night and I noticed today it's scooting on its butt and not walking. I've read through the forum and have it in a glass, no improvement and it just cheaps and cheaps

I tried the papertowel donut but it just wiggles out of it. I can't get it to use its legs for standing but it seems to have no problem moving them. Anything else I can do???
Thanks!

Still working with this chick. I put her in a smaller plastic container, she seems to be standing more and has actually gotten herself out. But she keeps getting in that position with the feet up instead of standing on them. I can't seem to figure out how to stop her from doing that. It would help a lot if she would just keep the feet under her instead of sticking up beside her body.
Anyone out there had this same situation? I need some suggestions, help please. Anyone??

probably put a splint on them? How are they holding their feet out? is it splayed legs or are they just not walking?

Chick is much better today! I saw an improvement last night after being in and out of the cup all day. The muscles in the legs are working now and he can stand up and walk normal. He was going more backwards last night and better frontwards today, Still wobbly but so much better. I found putting it with the other chicks and it getting knocked around pushed it to stand and use it's legs. And I did what I call chick therapy, put it in a cup that it had to use it's legs to get out of and did it several times in a row. I know it helped strengthen it's legs. It still gets into that position with the feet/legs flat and trying to scoot, but another chick comes by and pushes him and he hops right up. I'm hoping after today he isn't doing that anymore.
I have been giving it water with a eye dropper thing, I think it came with some liquid ecanasia (sp) I had. It wasn't drinking out of the dish before. So now, they all come running. LOL How easy to teach them all to drink like that. I thinking maybe I should try the nipples with my older birds. I wonder if a water bottle for a hamster or guinea pig would work also.
He's also eating the food I sprinkle. I also have been putting vitamins in the water. Thanks for your response! Hope this helps someone. I will try and take some pictures so others can understand what a scooter is.
Love this forum and all the help I have gotten from it over the yrs.
