This little beauty, shown in it's former location, will be at my house next weekend. I got it from a friend of a friend that posted it on face book. It is currently on a trailer awaiting delivery by my brother. It was a bit of a challenge getting it out of this back yard. We had to pull the trim from the front to make it through the gate. It is roughly 4' x 7'. It will get a make over upon it's arrival. The door is only about 4 1/2 feet tall, so we will be making that larger as well as making windows for the openings, a door. I have some vinyl flooring for the floor and will be adding vents & a roost . Not sure about adding nest boxes as the intent is to use this as a "brooder coop" for the young ones until they are integrated into the main flock. Think I will be calling it "The Wee Chick-Inn". The color will be changed to a soft butter-cream yellow. I'll probably stick with the soft sage green for trim that I have on my bigger coop. I am doing the 'happy dance'....

Usually I hear about the good stuff the day after someone else hauls it home. I almost didn't get this one, but the other interested party decided it would be too much work getting it out of the back yard...

A couple photos of the future inhabitants of the new coop. Gotta love those little fuzzy butts!
Somewhere in there are 3 barred rock, 4 buff orpington, 3 rhode island red, 3 australorp, 3 wynadottes and a half dozen or so golden sex-link roosters destined for freezer camp at my brothers.

Thanks, Tigertrea, I am so excited. It should be here this afternoon.... unless my brother gets called in to work...
The chicks are rapidly outgrowing their brooder, especially since I only intended it for a half dozen and a serious case of chicken math turned them into 24... hence the need for another coop. Roughly 1/3 will be going to freezer camp...and the rest I hope in integrate into the main flock, assuming all goes well... Then this coop will be my isolation/hospital/broody coop. It will be nice to have that little luxury. Right now I am using a corner in our pump house, not an ideal spot, but at least there is electicity there.
Pardon me while I do the happy dance again....

It's been delivered. Let the renovations begin!

And the crew, taking a well earned break.

My DH Frank, nephew Paul, sister in law, Su, brothers Hal and Harry. Thanks guys!

The false front has been trimmed. T1-11 siding was added over the original osb as it was beginning to deteriorate. We had a remnant of vinyl for the floor, found windows that were discounted and added trim. The paint for the siding was left over from when I painted my mom's house a couple years ago. The inside is painted with an assortment of left overs. The ceiling is semi-gloss white, the walls turned out a soft robins egg blue. That paint started as a bright baby blue, I dumped in a couple mistinted sample size greens. I'm still working on the people door, vents, roosts and chicken door. I need to do something to block the space under the supports, and add some sort of trim to cover the wire edges (probably strips of lathe painted white).

The future residents are rapidly growing and not so surprisingly some of my "pullets" have suspiciously roosterly look. Of course, since I caved and bought chicks I now have a broody sitting on 15-18 eggs (Yikes!) She has managed to flatten herself to semi pancake status and cover them. I will be candling them this weekend and tossing the clears. I'm thinking I will need to add a third or maybe fourth coop at this rate.
