Thanks for sharing! I agree that the regular kid's benadryl probably helped as much with keeping her calm as the swelling.

What a happy ending. We have the light ones here, too.

Congrats on your quick-thinking with the Benadryl. It looks like it saved her life. I'm glad she's OK.

Say, I am wondering, should I toss any eggs she lays for the next week or so? I wonder about the status of eggs from a chicken recovering from venom.

Anyone?

BTW, the egg she layed today has a large suture around the center, like a stress crack.

Oh my goodness she laid an egg?

You are a good chicken momma for sure. I have no idea about the venom thing but I am curious to see if anyone else knows.

Holy cow Victoria is a pretty girl. Her sisters are cuties too. I can't believe she laid a scorpion egg. Maybe the stress crack is from thrashing last p.m.. Just me but I wouldn't eat the next few eggies.

Your AZ scorpions are eerie looking. Really weird that they glow in the dark. I was talking about this on another thread but my Mom in law moved in turns out w/ a bunch of scorpions in her boxes. A week later we lost our beloved dog. She had like a seizure and died. 1 1/2 weeks after that my parrot died suddenly. I think it was the scorpions. You are truly a hero for us all. Now we know to give benadryl.

Thanks and tell Victoria that Beed said to eat her supper or else!!haha

Thanks for this thread. I know it is old and I am not sure if the OP is still around, but we were able to save our hen from certain death because of this thread.

BTW, for those reading in the future, my husband says 1/2ml of the Benedryl would be enough for a chicken. We used 1ml because he wasn't home to ask and our hen is doing okay.

Anyway, thanks again.

what a wonderful discovery even though it caused by a horrible situation.
Thanks tot he people who posted aspirin doses too, I'm sure it will come in handy some day!
It's got me thinking what other venomous creatures bites/stings could be beaten by....
