Scotts Dumpy

I have just followed this lead and the farm is not longer operating.

I have been trying to find Scots Dumpy Chickens for some time, I will see if I can find some when I am in Scotland Later this year.

Well i have a question about scott dumpy, i heard that short leg gene is lethal if both parent got it, so i can breed my scott dumpy with any other breed, and the offprings are still pure scott dumpy or not

If you're interested in short leg genetics, look into the more commonly kept Japanese Bantams for an understanding of how that works. @The Moonshiner or @Amer can probably explain that pretty well.

No, do not cross your Scots Dumpies with any other breed. They will no longer be pure and with a breed so rare, you need to be mindful of responsible breeding.

It is lethal if homozygous. Homozygous birds die in the shell.
So if you have one with short legs it's heterozygous. When bred together 25% die in shell. 50% have short legs and 25% have long legs.
You can bred that way or you can breed short legged birds to long legged birds and get 50% of each and no lethal chicks.
Idk SDs but that's how it works with Japs.
