They're all mutts, by the way!

Many have an EE dad... some have polish in there... some buff orpington...

3 weeks old today - am I stuck with a bunch of boys??

(oh good lord please no!)

Pssh no, I see at least 3 girls so far. . . Most are too hard to sex at this age, such as the polish.

And, scraggly? lol! Those are nice looking. . . MY 3 week olds were scraggly. . . Also, 3 weeks is nowhere near the worst. The worst is 4-6 weeks.

Fantastic color in those shots! They look great for 3-weeks. I think you are asking a bit much to tell gender at that age with EE mixes. I do see a black pullet though. The others, who knows?
You must be having great weather up there to have such green grass and be able to put such youngsters out already!

Remember Solaris, my EE roo?

He's the dad of 9 babies (6 have sexlink moms, 3 have my superb laced EE hen as mom) - I'm amazed at the colors coming through!

The weather here has been strange, very warm and then freezing, a week of clouds then a week of sunshine.
The grass and flowers are growing like crazy though, so no complaints!

I know it's way too early to tell (specially with EE mixes) but still, I see definite early feathering on some babies more than others so I'm tempted to assume those are the girls... but... I won't hold my breath eh!

Man, I love that picture. Everytime you post it, it is like being hit with a brick. The shine of his tail, the fading light, his stance, the texture differences.

Anyway--you should send me the little white/red mottled roo
