Scraps???

Can i give chickens scraps and stuff say everyday or does that mess there diet? As long as it's chicken safe foods

I love to spoil my chickens, but please remember that chickens require protein from their feed and oyster shell on the side. The more you feed scraps, the less intake of good nutrition. As long as the amount you provide is a snack and only that........

I would give scraps sparingly, maybe 2-3 times a week so they will still get most of the balance nutrients from their feeds.

It was hard for me to cut back. I was WAY over treating them. Now instead of giving them a little bowl. I give it one by one by hand. They learned to have manners lol and it’s a fun time. But I only have 4 chickens so.....

Since I can’t free range my hens, I enjoy daily feeding them bugs, clover, and older produce(checking for no mold), and other goodies. As long as they also have their required feed readily available, they can have fun snacks anytime! Overtime, I’ve even learned what my hens do and do not like to eat.
