Scratch & Peck Now Contains Diatomaceous Earth In Their Feeds

Hey! In case you’re curious: on page 3 of this thread we resolved the question with an email to customer service (I posted screen shots!). End result was that because DE is used in small amounts as pest control during their bulk storage of organic grain there was confusion for a while and it ended up on the ingredients list. It is NOT an added ingredient in the food. Their certifier has assured them they don’t need to list it and they have since removed it from the ingredients list to reduce confusion. It may be in the feed bag in negligible amounts, but absolutely nothing of concern, so much that it doesn’t need to be disclosed! My girls love the food toooo!!!
Thank you!!!!

I just found what it seems like a fly head in S&P feed!
I feed larvae to my chickens but it's creepy me out that they've been eating grounded whole flies! It wasn't in the ingredient list!
Are these grown in sanitary environment? Why it isn't included in the ingredient list? Was this accident? Am I overreacting or does anyone think it's creepy?

I wouldn’t be concerned, personally. You can always reach out to their customer service for an explanation I’ve found them to be very responsive and thorough in their reasoning.

Because of such things as “Defect Action Levels.” Look up FDA Defect Action Levels for human food, never mind animal feed.

At least your example is feed meant for chickens, which eat bugs. I mean, it’s just protein after all. 😬

Yeah it's not like bad chemical. I flies could carry bacteria and stuff but I think it's a grasshopper head actually. I don't even know how I spot that tiny lol
