Screaming Chickens

I have 3 hens: 2 leghorns, 1 astralorp. They are about 6 months and all laying. They have a 4x4 coop with an 8x4 run attached. However, I have always let them out of the run into our yard, usually in the late afternoon so they can get some exercise, dust bath and go back in the coop. Recently they have started screaming and staring up at the house all day until I let them out and then, silence while they do their thing. I hate the sound, it's so annoying and impossible to ignore. Would this stop if I just stop letting them out at all? This really can't continue! I guess I have spoiled my chickens and they seem to be very demanding.

Your coop and run are pretty small. I think they enjoy the freedom when out so have become demanding.

Can you expand the run at all?

They DO have me trained! We are discussing ways to expand their run; hopefully, that will help.

It will, you may still have to go thru the screaming while they adjust to be confined.
I'd at least double the size of the run and make it weather proof(solid roof to keep snow out and some wind blocks) or winter will get even longer.

Also put some stuff in there for 'enrichment'.
