DH are probably the only people on our road that are amused by this, but there is a rooster somewhere nearby (not ours!) that crows every few seconds all day long. But it doesn't have a very pleasant singing voice. It sounds like a woman screaming. I just crack up every time I hear it - which is often.

Are you sure it's not a farm that is raisng ostriches or emus? We had some down our road apiece, and they would scare me awake just as the sun was setting...

They sounded like a woman screaming "help!".

It's definitely a rooster. There are no farms nearby with any other animals. I grew up with peacocks next door and we actually used to have ostriches right next to us till last year. It's just a rooster with a bad crow.

I've never herd my Emu's make a noise, they will make a drumming rummble when they are older, but no hollering help...that's a peacock. Funny that a Roo would make that much noise..maybe he's lonely?

Our 14 week old roo tried to crow this morning. It was pretty funny. There are some free range chickens in the neighborhood and one wandered into our yard... that's when he decided he would let the other young banty rooster that was visiting the outside of our run that he was the king of the roost. I suppose I'm either going to have to eat our rooster or let him free range in the neighborhood also.

Friends of ours had a roo that doodled in the evening only...lol from 3-5 all you heard is "Eeer errr eeer errr ROO!"

LOL for years the husky drooled over the free ranger. The rooster eventually went blind and the slick foxy dog got him in the end. Its not as funny I guess if you put it that way. It's just knowing the situation and the YEARS of tortment the dog endured. the Roo would strut right up to the end of the chain, just out of reach.
