So my favorite Pekin has been slower and slower to come out in the morning... like she was hesitant to leave. Today she has resolutely stayed put. Not sure if this isnthe real deal or a passing fancy.. we are going away for the weekend and a neighbor girl is taking care of the ducks for us, i kind of wish she had decided to wait on this new found activity. If she sticks with it, what should i do about the rest of the eggs in the coop? I did not collect this morning as not to bother her. She has access to water and food and she can come and go from the coop as she pleases. They usually use 3 corners to lay in and she is in the one with the biggest eggs.. unfortunately. Any advice on what to do appreciated.

I was just wondering so she doesn't bite the little girl when she collects eggs, Being broody doesn't have to be a big deal to break if it is just a weekend trip.

Oh, i am not too worried about Molly, shes well accustomed to farm critters. I am not totally sure i want to break her broody, i kind of figure let her go if she wants to. I would prefer to replace the eggs she happens to be sitting on with different ones , not sure how well that would work.

I would check fertility at 7 days into incubation. To check, just slowly move her off the nest.
