Yay that the bratty hen came back LH!!! Rotten stinker!

Since DH can't remove an egg from a broody hen of normal chicken size, we are going to be hatching And. blue LF Cochin hen crossed to Cuckoo Marans roo. Half will be blue, half will be black, and any barred/Cuckoo will be female?

Dumb hens. I am supposed to be the only broody right now.

Thanks Cyn.....

Just thought if any of our bunch had a nice cockerel rather than just letting him go to "anyone" that I could use one

Will still need some hatching eggs as I only have 2 girls and will definitely need a little diversity in this line of BRs. As long as this "line " has been around I'm sure there will be some "inbreeding issues" if I dont

Everything ok at DR today??

I just had my labs for my thyroid done, regular thing with hypothyroidism to see if the meds need to be tweaked. Will know at the actual appt next week what they said. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary.

I agree! You get Beth's boy and you still may need extras so eggs are yours for the asking, as always.

OOH, if that "thunk" was aimed at me, I deserved it, Cyn! And I, too, hope all was well at the DR. just routine?
You have all been on my heart. I am just glad these last months are over.

Cetawin, that naughty, naughty DeeDee deserves a sojourn in the Diva's stall. Then she will know who the REAL Diva is, and who can disappear for a night and who can't. No one can outdo my Jo - but I am glad you found her, glad she is home- you have lost too many sweet souls this summer.

Anyone want a nice NH roo from German lines? Or practically perfect JG roos? Black Orp roos? Del roos? I am still up to my armpits in juvie males, and have lots too nice to eat. And we are just dreading the next round of processing. I never thought I would be such a wuss. I know you have to start somewhere and learn how to do it, but ....

Amy, all those black chicks will be males, so don't tell Kathy you want them-

Speaking of ....Kathy, do you have a final count?

Laura, I need to scroll back and catch up on your chicks for sure. Who has what these days?

Scott, I will save that BR boy for you. I think he is pretty nice, very round, almost ball shaped from above, and very nice even barring. Did I say that already?

Beth! There you are! So glad you are around!?!?!?!?! You have miseed much and well needless to say we have all had a tough summer chicken wise!
I'll take a Black Orp please lOL
Ya'll talk so nicely about Orps i have put it in my pea brain i might like to try some - course my humungous Cochin Roo would NOT be happy lol

Knox!! I have three of them, I will try to get you some pictures. One in particular is an eye-catcher. Tell your Cochin roo to move over!

AH!! I think I have a lot of catching up to do with all of you.

By the way, Ultrasuede is alive ,still wonderful and a happy Daddy- Katia and Silkie went broody at the same time, I could not break them, and they raised 5 guinea chicks and two Del chicks. He is just the BEST with the chicks, as is my English roo Impy - the chicks dug a way into his pen and he co-fathers. The two little Dels in particular spend most of their time with him. I lost Alexander to a vile and vicious dog attack, and Ivan the Terrible is all grown up and protecting the Del girls for now.

Beth I have two of the black eng. mix orps. I think they are both males ?????? One looks but does not act it at 4 months. I have a blue lady orp called Lizbeth, a black hen orp called Faith ( I wanted one so bad remember) and a Splash orp roo, from you. No name but he is a smart one. Just turns his head and studies what I am saying etc. He is lead roo right now. I have tried to find good homes for them so far to no avail. I want to keep one of the German NH males to go with my two hens the other one from Kathy will have to have a new home. There is a possibiliy of 5 more roos than I had first counted on. Yikes.

I don't want to do the deed again either but I might have too. Next Spring if the hens go broody I want to pair the eng. roo with the lavender orps. It should increase their size. I will only keep a few of the females. Then he will have to go maybe? I do not want more than 12 for my flock. I love all kinds of hens. They are soo pretty to me.
Sooo glad you are back. Gloria Jean

Gloria Jean, thank you- those Orp males will have red combs by now - but they are pretty mellow and may not get too excited about the girls quite yet. Mine aren't, either, but I can tell the males from the one female. I think I am jealous you have a splash roo, but don't let me go there!!!

Oh, Beth if you want the splash roo I would love to give him to you free. LH said she would get him if I could not find a home for him. It is to keep him from getting to be in a pot though and told me to try and find him a good home. Just as you I have too many roos. Please please. Or if you know anyone who would give him a good home let me know. He is smart and gentle so far. It would seem like a crime to eat him.
I have had all my flock on the Denaguard since i got them. I just wormed them with valbazen, for the first time and will repeat it in two weeks. They have not had any problems so far.
I need Mr. Mintons num. I have lost it. Since my flock is 4 months now he can check them for me. Love ya Gloria Jean

No, dear lady, that was me falling over after worrying about Delilah all night and about LH worrying about Delilah and having that bad girl show up this morning after making both of us lose a night's sleep. I'm so happy to see you back here!

Dr was just routine labs.

Cyn, I am glad it was just routine- anytime anyone says thyroid I start to worry! How is Tom?

Gloria Jean, much as I would LOVE him, I have to say no, but will keep an eye open for anyone wanting a good splash over this-a-way. I am glad to hear he is taking after his Daddy, he is Ultrasuede's you know, and Cloud's and if he took after Cloudie he would be a drama queen!
