Knox, I have two extra of George at my place - want an early Christmas present?

Why is it no one has room for more roosters?

Yup, George is a handsome guy!

After closer examination, Meg's abdomen isn't as swollen as we first thought; must have been the way I was holding her or something. At least, that's good, but the eggs are going somewhere so that is still a concern as is her breathing. She's in the house, being a very good girl, talking back when I talk to her. The wind is howling outside, but temps are still up in the 60's so far-supposed to drop tomorrow then the lows will be back in the 20's, with all this soggy wet mud, ick. Best place for Meg is in the house out of this weather, I think. Dang weather is really wreaking havoc with my older compromised birds and me, too. Have a cold. Am trying to finish this quilt but took a break and am typing on my little ACER netbook while lying in bed for awhile.

Isn't the weather just crazy-weird?! Even though the temps are not all that low, I am just freezing. Guess it will take me a while to adjust. My chickens, too. They act like they are all cold. Most of them are staying inside.

I will say though, I believe they are just now finally feeling a bit less stressed, since the hawk attack. Honestly, they have been so easily startled since then. Fear, I believe. I sure hope they all settle down soon. Finally, I am getting a few more eggs anyway.

Agreed about the strange weather. Even though the temps are okay, the wet plus howling wind makes it seem chilly. Tom made me some chicken stew, which is really like cream of chicken soup, and it sure felt comforting. Maybe I should give Meg some, LOL!

I put crackers in my soup. Instead of crackers, you could use oatmeal..... I bet Meg would LOVE that!

I wish you could all see my broody mama with her chicks running around out here. They are just so darn cute. This mama is so much different than any other broody I have had. She is QUIET. She does not cluck to the kids at all. Yesterday, two chicks were by the house and she was with the others down near the coops. She heard the 2 calling her and she went running to them. The ones with her followed her. She just does not talk! Isn't that so odd?
