We had some puffs of wind last night that shook the whole house and tore up a building next door. I heard them afterwards nailing sawing etc. and putting the roof back on a building they had built. It was scary for about 15 min . I feel so much for the people in the North East. We were predicted snow and wind. Thankfully no snow or ice here and the wind has slowed down. I have been through many hurricaines on the coast of NC and it is very unnerving. Its the not knowing what is coming until it gets there. The next day the temps and hum. without any power is a struggle to many. We always knew how to prepare, but were never sure what would happen during.
My heart goes out to everyone. I have a neuro appt. in Clyde today. I am not sure the roads will be open so I may have to cancel. I sure need that appt. Gloria Jean

Yikes I thought it was a building during the night but it was part of their roof on their home. Today they fixed it. I started to my appt. and about 15 miles from here there is a high mtn. It was pouring snow on it. I stopped called the Dr. cancelled the appt and came home. Its another hours drive to them and I would have been coming home in the dark. Black ice on the road would not be my friend. Everyone be careful out there. The road between Cherokee and Gatlingburg is closed as is most of the parkway. What a way to start the winter, OH !!! thats right its not winter yet

. Maybe it will be like another year when we started out rough and it was mild from then on. Either way I will not be here but rather the coast for a bit. thanks for caring about me. Gloria Jean

Thank you Serrin, It has been rough physically the last days. But my hb will be back tomorrow and take over some of the everyday chores for me. The storm affects are gone now and we are predicted pretty weather. Now to get everything ready for my FALL MIGRATION to the coast of NC. I'd rather not go but..... Its nec. for so many reasons.

My Emma is a sweetie to. She has finished her molt too. It seems all summer she was broody then she had a long molt. A really good mother hen.
I have promised myself no more carpentry until my hand and arm are well. Yes I overdid it and am paying dearly for it. I guess 7-8 weeks is not enough time before I force it to stretch, hold an 18volt screwdriver and put 2 1/2 screws in . Sigh you can't blame a woman for trying I wanted to get caring boxes for my hens all made. Now my hb will have to finish them. I am a stubborn woman and wanted to do them before he came. ( like I wanted them). Now the tendons, nerves and ligaments that were almost twisted off are screaming.

What makes us so stubborn and unable to release control when we really need to? Sometimes I need beating with a wet noodle.

Gloria Jean, you posses a healthy dose of the independent spirit that made this country great! Many of the generation coming up could do with a large dose of that!

Kathy, the girls are looking great! Here in the wilds of Eastern Washington, my BR are the best looking girls of the bunch. They rarely ever molt with such wild abandon as the other girls. Poor Dottie is still nearly naked and is only now starting to put feathers back on. She's my little BSL who is bent on being a chicken version of Lady Godiva! Silly wench!

Winter is just around the corner!!
