That is a beautiful cabin.

Thank you for the compliments y'all.

Tim, the art of "porch sittin' " as you call it, is alive and well at our house. In the summer and early autumn months, it's one of my favorite past times. There's just something so relaxing about sitting on the porch in the late afternoon, watching the chickens roam around. Our only problem is that the chickens have found the porches to be as inviting as we do. Watch where ya sit!!!!

If ya liked the outside [that picture was taken last summer by the way] then ya might like to see this:

Obviously, we still have the counter tops to do, and the center island. So, ignore that mess in the middle of the kitchen. That's a temporary set up, but it's also about where the center island will be. Hopefully in about three or four months...... Considering it took me the better part of two and a half years to finally commit to the cabinetry and configuration thereof, it will probably follow that the counter tops will take an equally long interval!

We'll also need to order another of the "storage cube" units [like that to the right of the fridge] to go along side of the corner wall cabinet to the left of the range hood so that the whole thing looks more balanced. I don't know how we overlooked that when we were ordering cabinets.

I've just about gotten everything that had been previously stored in the laundry room cabinets transfered into the kitchen. It's a slow process with many bouts of rearrangement. It will probably take several weeks to fine tune the organization at best.

And speaking of which, I'd best be getting back to it....break time is over!

I really have to hand it to you, Serrin. You deserve the "most patient person of the year" award! That's a long time to get where you're at now. I love the cabinet colors.

Thank you for the compliments y'all.

This reminds me of the story our pastor told. He does wood working and made all the cabinets for their kitchen. Everything was fine until they needed a new refrigerator. Seems the new one was to tall to fit under the cabinet.

Seeing how he'd made them such a long time ago. I don't know what he did. .

Anyhow I have no doubt you will get it done and it will be very nice. Still I envy that porch. You're very blessed.

Oh dear, perhaps I shouldn't tell you that there's another one just like it on the other side of the house?

No you should not. IMO I think a porch is more important than a fancy master bath. We used to sit and watch fire flies. Of course I do like the simplicity of a cabin too. I am happy for you though and wish you many years of enjoyment on that porch.

I sure miss fireflies! We had them in Canada where I spent my youngest years, then we moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

After I got married, we moved to Minnesota for a few years when my kids were really little. We had fireflies there too. I don't think the kids remember them but we used to go out chasing them and putting them in a jar to look at for a little while. Then we'd let them go. I remember specifically my daughter opening the jar to let them go and one of them flew out and landing blinking in her hair! I sure wish I'd have had a camera for that moment! It was priceless!

Just when we were starting to get a few bare patches of ground for Chief and the girls to prowl around on, it's SNOWING again!

Well that makes me feel better, (not). Last week or so , LI NY got slammed, and Upton, LI got the most, 30 inches, and Upton was 1/2 mile from my house thru the woods. So I know they got it. Glad I missed it.

Snow don't bother me. I haven't left the house in two days. Of course I have no money, but I did collect eggs and let the chickens out and all that stuff. I so need a job. School is out and it's boring.

I did make two Pound Cakes though.
