rancher: how many do you have now? I like to hatch eggs.waiting for the magic momnent. Wish i can hear them.

I think it's at 25/36 now. It's crowded and I've set up with the brooder to move everyone tomorrow. That's as long as I'll risk waiting for the slackers. There might be a couple more. I hope. I've got a BR who is taking it's sweet time.

It's can be fun to hatch and I do plan to start more after cleaning the incu and giving it a few days rest, while I gather eggs. These BM's are a frustrating lot. I'd hate to do more but I do get quite a 3 -4 four eggs a day from them. I wish I had another line to put in the mix. I'm not looking to win prizes, just impress the customers.

. I haven't had a broody in over 2 years, so here's hoping for success as I love to watch mama hens raise their own little ones

Don't mind more chicks if there's a broody mama to raise them and I hope her sister decides to brood a little later this spring

Was 70F here today....PRAYING Spring is around the corner

Headed to Tupelo, MS Monday-Wednesday next week...y'all hold down the fort

Well I'll try to remember that.

I've got three broodies here and I'd be surprised if anything hatched they way they're going. They get off to eat and get in any nest with eggs, leaving the ones they have.

Yes I pray for spring too. It's so wet here I'm considering some KC ducks.

I'd like to turn this area into a small drain pond. Somewhere to catch all the water.

Glad our snow is gone. Of course, we only got snow one time all winter.

Tim, my broody hens always did that, too. They don't care what eggs they sit on, just hop on any nest. I usually have to separate them and put them in a broody pen, if I want eggs to hatch. This Wheaten Ameraucana just hatched 2 Olive Eggers.

I don't have a broody pen. Yet.

I just hatched ot 24 with the incu so I'm not too concerned. Though I don't want her sitting for nothing either. There's just so much to do around here.

Rancher, I wish I had a place like that where my chickens could stand in water, every summer, in the afternoon I run the hose and the water puddles and my birds stand in it and cool off.

I need some help. My JG eggs have been thin shelled for quite a while. They break real easy. I feed Manna and have fed everything else and it's still the same. They have access to crushed oyster shell. What else can I do?
