Nella...I like her and she reminds me of Hera bigtime...they should be about the same size and build. now about my boy...why you dissing my boy? He is wonderful and protective and would NEVER start something...he just finishes it. Now my broody girl can be as hateful as she wants as she is doing a tough job.

BTW I love that freaky egg you found under the broody...do you find those often? Fuxxy and funny looking egg....really unique indeed.

OMGosh!! Kathy, do you have any idea of how much trouble I'd be in if those showed up in the crate along with Mama EE and the girls?

OMG! It's called tuck tail and run for the nearest exit as fast as my stubby little legs could carry me! Seriously! DH would either kill me, divorce me, or lock me up and throw away the key!

Ummm....much as I'd love to have them, I think I'd better decline on those. Maybe in the late spring next year? If I tried to brood chicks in the house again, like I did the mongrel hoards last spring, Denny would absolutely have a conniption fit for sure! If I recall correctly, his exact words the last time were something to the effect of "Don't even think about doing something like this again once the house is finished. Just don't even think about it!" So yeah....in the interests of preserving my marriage right now, I'm going to have to take a rain check on the little Del babies.

Anyone else ready to float away? That rain last night was ridiculous. Only chicken that came tearing out of the coop as normal this morning was Ms Bumblefoot leghorn who apparently was in dire need of laying an egg and wanted to use the garage nestboxes. The ducks were thrilled......

Speaking of ducks....I had heard that duck eggs were harder than chicken eggs to crack. Well, the evil egg thief aka Molly the dog found a duck egg the other day and was chewing on it. Yes. CHEWING. I took it away from her and she hadn't even broken it. Just a few scratches and a couple little chipped areas where her teeth had broken pieces of plaster, I mean shell, off. Not a crack in sight.

Wow.

Hey Beth! Partridge, partridge, partridge! LOL......Sure you don't want my partridge cochin pair. The hen is teeny tiny and was a successful broody a while back. The rooster is young and small for his age, but still bigger than her.

Ignore the poopy walls.....that brooder has roosts too close to the wall and so they get disgusting quick. Yuck.

Debi - you must join our thread...delaware owner or not...it is only a matter of time before they getcha. Plus we discuss much other stuffs too.

Beth - Ivan is getting leggy, he is in the awkward stage...love it. Alexander is one handsome dude too.

Nella - duck eggs are tough to crack compared to most chicken eggs for sure. We did not get any of that rain yesterday bit we are supposed to get it today and tomorrow. So, only my big girls and the ducks are out today.
