Are you ready for Christmas?

I usually would be setting up a big menu, cooking all day the day before, baking all night, cooking right up to serving time...but I am just not in the mood this year...too much on my mind AND my in-laws have announced they are coming to visit...so I will start a valium drip the day before that event so I am incoherent during that visit...not safe around hot ovens.

LOL.....valium drip might be a good idea. If only you guys knew about my family Christmas drama from last year. Newish boyfriend.....I figured i would bring him to Christmas dinner, right? That's what people do. Bring their SO to Christmas dinner.....well, apparently me mentioning this offhand to the family never registered as a day or two before Christmas Eve I get a phonecall from my brother in law "chastizing" me for not asking permission to bring the boyfriend and letting me know he was not invited to such an intimate family occasion.

It turned into HUGE family drama.......my parents were visiting for the holidays and we ended up not even having a Christmas dinner. What a disaster it was.

Anywho, that dude is long gone and the "new" boyfriend lives out of state...so while he has met my parents, he has never met my sister or brother in law. He is coming for Thanksgiving week and again for the Christmas holiday.......so we'll see how things go this year. Stupid family drama. Sometimes i feel like i'm 16 and living at home again. Oh the good ol years...............

Yeah I got some shopping done on ebay yesterday. Mom was giving me hints on one of my gifts. Thats kinda our tradition. You get one hint on one gift, lol. I'm an only child so i'm kinda spoiled.

Well I will get to hear how I need to stop worrying about my sister because it is not worth it to worry and I should be focusing on....then she will list all of the things I should be doing....then she will tell me that we could be doing more with the house and property if I went back to work...then she will ask why I am not painting and redoing the porch and etc on a house I do not own yet and then she will tell me I do not need a horse because they just cost money and wander around and you never do anything with them (like she does her horse) and on and on....meanwhile my FIL who has NEVER spoken a word to me in 10 years ...when greeted with "Hello Brian, how are you?" will say nothing...I will get pisssssed off and start to stew....she will rattle on and on, he will say nothing and I will finally lose it and come unglued and remind them they are in my home...and in my home we treat each other and guests like human beings, with courtesy and common civil behavior at a minimum and to please not let the knob hit their asses on the way OUT...then there is the soon to occur argument with DH for my rudeness and my witchy attitude which will remind him that it is MY home not hers and they can behave like humans or get the F out...

Oh yes it will be a fun day and I will have several drinks..guaranteed. DH says it will not be that bad and they will behave and my response "Has hell frozen over?"
