I sooooooo wish I had my camera when I was outside today. Hilarious to watch my 2 big English Orp roosters fighting and arguing with Tyson (dog) over his bone. Poor ol' Tyson finally dragged the bone away, after whining and whining about the boys. It was just tooooo funny! They usually share, but today didn't want to.

Amy, Ya know, we use saddles on the girls, so why not give the sock a try! Heck, it might work! Silly girl, for sure!

Update on the downsizing!

Today I sold 25 chickens!

2 more empty pens now. 2 more people are suppose to come for more this week.

I can not believe our forecast. Today only 30, but the next few days: 40, 45, 51, 62. WOW, 62 on Thursday! I am gonna get alot done!

I can't believe how easy some have it to sell chickens. Not here.
I suppose i should try to sell my two year old hens, lord knows they aren't laying all that well in this cold.

What did you sell? If you don't mind my asking.

I sold all of my Buckeyes, several BCMarans and roosters (I now have no BCM rooster), and 10 Delawares (2 months old). I still have chicks hatching of all of these though.

I used my Droid (smartphone) because I always have it in my pocket...I am tired of missing good shots and photo ops because of not having the camera. hahahaha


Sad news and Freaky thing...I lost d'Artagnan this evening in a freak accident. He and my Maya (blue orp offspring of Suede and Smoky) are in an XL wire dog crate in the coop where the heat lamps are...I reached in to get feeder and waterer for refill and some for reason d'Artagnan spooked and jumped straight up, hitting his head on the wire crossbars...he fell to the floor instantly; his neck broken

It was freaky because he has never feared my hand, not backing away or anything since he hatched and then this. Had I not seen it happen, I would never have believed it possible. Here is my little boy when he hatched back in July, I was so afraid he would not make it because he pipped into a blood vessel and the egg bled very heavily and he was very weak for a couple of days.

For some reason I cannot find the pictures of him recently but I shall.

So my darling little dark blue son of Suede is gone

Now I have 4 Suede daughters (2 Black and 2 Blue) and have no Suede sons.

So, I have made my request to Suede's mama for bbs orp eggs or babies

Look at the neat new coop i got to raise some seramas in ! The inside one wall is all nest boxes - there are roosts - the front top is like a loft with little ladders up to it - its a "firehouse" and even has bell on the front LOL.

LH, you know you can have any eggs you like. Thank goodness, all three of Suede's ladies are now laying again after a very long vacation.
