Good morning my little SDWD family!

Well, this is a fine and pretty picture I woke up to this morning!

When I went to bed early last night, it was raining, for crying out loud! Of course they [the National Weather Service] had been saying for the last three days or so that this storm was headed our way, but it was raining last night!

Who would have thought this would greet me first thing this morning?

Can you see that little bit of a path I carved out of the snow from the house, to the big trailer, and then over to the door of the pump house? Can you see it? Hmmmppff!! Well, I'll have you know, that little itty bitty path, just a single pass of the snow shovel wide, took me the better part of an hour to carve out!

It's wet and heavy stuff. Not my usual light fluffy snow that I'm so accustomed to and dearly love. No! Really! I love the snow!

Absolutely LOVE the white stuff! But this is not my idea of amusing!

It's too wet and heavy to deal with quickly and neatly!

And to top it all off, I absolutely must traverse the 21 miles [one way!] to Fairchild AFB to pick up my prescription for my back! They [again the NWS] are calling for blizzard conditions out on the West Plains area [of which both we and Fairchild AFB are a part of] from now until tomorrow afternoon!!

CALGON! TAKE ME AWAAAAYYY!!!!!

OK, I gotta go carve a path to the chickens now. God help me please! I don't know how I'm gonna get through this day! Why today? Of all days, why today for this mess!?!?! Was this really necessary???

Mostly, everyone is staying inside. Chief and the girls are ever so grateful that I brought their feed inside the coop. One simply shouldn't be expected to dine while snow is blowing up one's tail feathers!

Wanna know how smart my boys are? Smart enough to go back to the warm, dry confines of their own snug little coop since there wasn't anyone else outside to talk to anyway. They looked pretty happy and content when I last looked in on them after finishing up all of my chores out there.

The winds have picked up considerably since earlier this morning. Reports coming in from out by Fairchild are not good. They've got three and four foot drifts over much of Highway 2 and Brooks Road. Both are roads I have to traverse to get from home to the base.

It's such a dang good thing that I have an emergency "stash" of my prescription for my back, otherwise, I think I'd be in very serious trouble. There is just no way on God's sweet green [currently white in my neck of the woods] earth that we're going anywhere today! Nope! Just ain't happening! Thank heavens I did the commissary shopping just last week and am not due to go again until the end of next week!

I love it! Can't get enough of it! The winter of 2008-09 was my favorite so far. That was our all time record snowfall year. Over 8 feet by the time it was all done and over with. Color me happy that year!!

We get snow on a fairly regular basis here each winter. In fact, our November this year was the snowiest on record, beating out the old record by over an inch and a half for the month. But December has been a bit disappointing up until today. Kind of hit and miss. We'd get a couple of inches and then it would warm up and melt away.

I hate mud! Give me sub freezing daytime highs any day of the week! Just keep that mud and rain away from me!

The only reason I'm on a bit of a frenzied rant about the snow today is on account of needing to get out to the base to pick up a prescription for my back. It's just the timing. But, not to worry. I have emergency pills set aside for just such an occasion as this!

I'll be just fine so long as I can get out there by tomorrow afternoon. A little prayer couldn't hurt and would indeed be welcomed!

Alright then. I have a heck of a lot more shoveling to get done kiddos, blizzard or no blizzard, bad back or no bad back. Can't let this stuff get ahead of us ya know! Take care y'all. Stay warm, stay safe, and give your chickens some extra hugs for me!

Brandon they look wonderful! Oh I cannot believe how they have grown and changed...amazing. That Myrtle sure is a good looking girl. YAY! Cheyenne just looked at the pics and was tickled.



Amy you stay home and safe gal. Sorry to cut n run last night like that but DH does not get to call often and he wanted info on my dad.

Besides Napolean, Cheyenne and I were all set to watch the DaVinci Code last night soooo we got into the movie.
