Nella, I know darn well you've told me before what that breed of little cutie is, but of course, my memory has up and left me like a fart in the wind long ago. Please, tell me again what they are called. Such a beautiful little creature, and yes, I can see that mind control lurking behind those eyes too!

Oh lordy!! Just what I would need. To be even further under the control of my chickens!

They already run my life!

Chief is standing here on his table in the pump house, crowing to beat the band wagon! I think he's starting to feel better!

His voice continues to be weak and garbled, but he sure has the desire to tell the world that he's still in charge!

Glad to hear Chief is feeling better!

Those birds are Sicilian Buttercups. I had a pair of girls that I traded last year....for my quad of cochins actually. 1 got eggbound died....the other is still alive and well. Just got a picture of her this weekend! She is super cute.

They are VERY small birds. Almost bantam sized. Smaller than leghorns. For their size they lay a surprisingly big white egg....bigger than bantam, smaller than LF. Maybe a small medium? Mine laid pretty well while I had them. They were HILARIOUS. Very flighty and "hyper" but good entertainment.

So glad to hear about Chief. If things keep going well, when do you think he'll be back in the flock? Or should I say one of MANY flocks?

Thanks Nella. Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I was just looking at those over on MPC from that link that Cetawin posted for Buttercup combs. And darn the luck, they don't take well to confinement nor the cold. That pretty much precludes me from ever having any

The confinement wouldn't be an issue, but the cold sure as heck would! Darn it! They're just so cute!!!

Nick, if all goes well, Chief will return to his ladies and his duties by the end of this coming weekend at the earliest. But I'm inclined to keep him here, in the pump house, just a bit longer if I can. I don't want to have him suffer a set back. If keeping him in the pump house a few extra days will prevent that, then that's what I'll do. He may not like it, but I'd rather have him alive and resentful than dead!

Though I doubt he would harbour any resentment towards me. He doesn't have a mean or resentful feather on his hide nor bone in his body! He's just a super sweet boy! Besides, if I keep the goodies coming, I KNOW he'll be fine with it!

Yep, mine could fly like gamebirds......I have a 6 foot tall pen....that is about 15 feet away from the back 4 foot fence. I had 1 girl fly up and over the 6 foot fence, and that same flight also took her over the back 4 foot fence and about 20 feet deep into the brush out back. Those girls could FLY. They hated to be inside the pen.

Amy, sounds good. I bet chief is getting SPOIlED livin' with you! He sounds like a very good roo.

We have a new family member! Meg is a cocker spaniel/ collie mutt. She was the dog of you know who. She's real sweet, fat and spoiled. She ALWAYS wants to play rope. Pics to come! She thinks she's tiny and jumps on us and licks our face and constantly wants to be carried around. She's 40 pounds. But she sheds like hell, so we brush her all day.

Biscuit, the main dog doesn't shed.

Meg's a rescue and was abused in the home before she went to my gma's. Looking through an old photo album, there's a pic of Biscuit on the new couch and Meg on the floor. Captions read Meg: "Biscuit, why do you get to be on the new couch and I don't?" Biscuit: "Stop carping, Meg. Just be thankful you were rescued."
