The second group of little heathen Dels went to their home in SC a few minutes ago. wekiva bird (Robin) got to see Ike, Ellie, Georgie and the Suedenator. Her DH was impressed with the big blue tank and she was impressed by how sweet Isaac was when I gently pushed him back into the coop door and gave him a quick chest rub. I love my sweet boys!

My bantams are hatching

So far one little guy is out and it is without a doubt NOT a porcelain d'uccle so it must be a Frizzled Serama/OEGB cross. It is unreal how small these bantam babies are...when you are used to hatching babies from Suede and Isaac, these little ones look like 1/4 sized babies. hahahaha

More pics as they hatch and when they fluff. One other egg is pipped and the remaining egg rocks an now and rolls every now and again. They are not due to hatch until tomorrow so no worries yet.

That is great, LH! Let's keep the hatching going!!

Does anyone know the answer to this?- If some birds from a flock get a disease, and others don't... Could the ones that aren't really "affected" by it become carriers?

Nick...I think that is the case but it could depend on the disease to I think.

Nick , I was told the carriers very seldom are obviously ill. The others catch it from them or are in the egg at the time the egg hatches. Thats what happened to a flock of mine. I hatched out soome eggs under a broody and the eggs were carriers and really messed up my flock. I had to do away with them all. I miss them all. Hopefully I will find a mg/ms free line and have healthy stock by May. Gloria Jean

They are adorable in there! Thanks for the vid.

Thank you, Gloria Jean! Since I'm getting more chickens, my priority will to have them all vaccinated for MG and NC/IB. I plan to vaccinate Cyn's chicks for MG, but now it's too late for the NC/IB.

I'm a worry wart about disease, and I might just sell my current layers and start all over. But I'm not sure if I could give away Pepper. I hope you find a flock that's not infected!

Well this hatch is over and I have 2 adorable babies....plus the three TSC broodermates
