I think a Silkie would have looked cuter, Tim.

Nothing is cuter than a Delaware. I don't have any silkies. I sold them. A man's gotta set priorities and silkies are the poodles of the chicken world. Sissy birds. Lord have mercy!

As for broodies I've got two trying real hard and I swear I may just leave them in the run for the night and hope they break and the coons don't get 'em.

TIM! I can't believe you sold those Silkies!

They are sooooooo sweet and make the best broodies ever!

I saw a raccoon tonight at lock up time. OMG, this thing was the biggest coon I have ever seen in my life! HUGE ! ! ! It scared me. I am not letting my birds out to range tomorrow. Brittney went out and lit off some M-80s and threw them in the direction the coon went. I hope it scares him off.

Today I moved all my chicks outside. No more brooders of chicks. They are all in coops now. 4 coops of chicks, and 3 pens of grow outs. I am done hatching for the season. I am looking for the Project birds to be laying any day now. THOSE I will hatch! Well, after the eggs are of good size. Soon I will be moving the culls into a processing pen. Gonna fill up my freezer, for sure.

Floozy has influenced 3 more girls in the layers coop. They all 3 getting out every day. They have been named Jezebel, Hussy, and Harlot (Harlo, for short).

This is Jezzy. She is a Blue Copper Marans that insists on returning to her old home coop to lay her egg each day. I guess she doesn't like it in the layers coop.

This is Hussy. She is an Olive Egger that has gypsy blood in her, I believe. She is a free ranging diva that does not like being penned!

Harlo, a Black Copper Marans, this morning. I have taken her out of the Project pen THREE times already, and it is not even noon yet. She laid her egg, so now maybe she will stay out. It rained and is a muddy slippery mess, too.

I will say DW was not happy about the silkes and I can get them back if I want I think. I just don't have the coop room. I've two in the works and still won't have enough. I tried to sell the Brn lghns but no one want them and i was selling them cheap too.

The Dels are molting and not laying and darn if I don't need the eggs. I can't believe the new girls stopped laying too. The just started. I can understand the older girls. The orps probably won't start till the end of the month. The BR's in spring I guess.

Trylin wants a pullet cuz two of her BR's from Jeremy's hatch are roos. One has a bad case of angel wing too. Out of the 13 I have 3 are roos. They're doing fine but need a coop soon. I do need to spend more time with them though. There is always so much going on here.

DD and hers are coming from TX this month for a week. DD and hers are still living here and want to stay til Sept. DIL and her three are coming from AL next week. Lord have mercy I know why my mother was so mean. So none of us would ask to come and stay.

Honestly she was only mean when she drank. But that's another story.

I really need a dish washer bad. I may go buy one next week. I will have to install it though cuz we don't have one right now. And they say we married men never help out. DW will be working during their visits.

Such is life,

Rancher

They are driving me crazy! The are sneaky little girls, too! I can not figure out how the heck they are getting out. I stay out there and watch, and they don't leave. As soon as I turn my back - - - WHAM - - - they are out!

Look what the grow outs did today.
