You would rather go with the single wires instead of the poultry squares? Wouldn't the poultry squares be better for diggers?
My bottom wire is fairly close to the ground. I have had possums, foxes, coyotes, skunks all at one time or another either dig under the fence. I went with the wire because of the large area I have and the wire was a cheaper way to go for me. At first I wanted to put up the electric poly poultry fence but it was only 4 feet high. I have a friend in the clam business who orders chicken wire by the trailer load and will order extra for me and it was much less expensive to go that route and my wire is 5 feet high.

I understand that! we have put a lot of money into these guys already, that's why I have to wait to mention the netting my husband will have a fit. He thinks I'm going way overboard trying to protect them. I know I'm not and that fence is what I need. I want them to be happy and it makes me happy seeing them out pecking around enjoying life chasing bugs :) I'm so attached to them it will break my heart to loose any of them.

The past couple of nights I have lost a bird each night out of my juvenile pen. I went out last night and all were in their coop. I also buried wire under the fence. Saw no signs of digging. Maybe another owl. I had my game camera on and the dead bird was in the picture. I think I'll put a little light out there as even though there was a full moon a couple of nights ago it was overcast last night and we got rain. I guess I'll put out my trap again and see if I can catch whatever is killing the kids.

What do the dead birds look like . If they are huddling up in groups against the wire coons and possums will grab them thru the wire.
I have a 8 week old group and they don't roost yet . Just all huddle in corner. Just a thought.

No, I found both birds inside there pen in about the middle of the pen with their heads missing and guts torn out just like before when I had an owl kill some birds. There is no dig marks around the pen. It is an inside pen there are 4 pens on one side and 2 on the other side so the only way in is either over the ends or under and since there is no place where anything has dug under, whatever must be going over. The last time I put my game camera in the pen I got the owl on video. I put a small light out tonight to see if that would help. The camera is on.

Wow, that's terrible, poor peeps. Can you somehow put some chicken wire over the top of them so a owl can't get on.
