OMG Woman! If you ever find such a book, grab a copy for me too!!!!! I'll pay ya right back!

I paid a visit to my now accessible sewing machine last week, and I so miss just stitching things together.

There are TONS of them! I would be happy to send you a few beginner books ! Amy, that is all you do to quilt .... just stitch the pieces together!

Kathy... if you ever saw my attempts at just "stitching the pieces together" you would know that only certain people should be allowed to quilt. And I am not one of them LOL

How do you all get those pieces to stay in a straight line?

Straight pins!

You all crack me up. My sister tried to teach me to sew recently. We decided to stick with HER sewing while I cut things out and pin and them together. Darn chicken saddles. So complex....... (OR NOT). The machine kept sewing in a CROOKED LINE. How dare it do these things? Sigh. Back to woodworking for me.......

Serrin, it is so nice and glorious when all you have to do is open or close doors. No "chicken wrangling" needed. My rooster pen is the most glorious invention that has ever existed. My biggest problem is making any changes....those 9 boys have been together long enough that they get along just fine. But NO more boys can be added as is. I took one boy out temporarily....just a few days...tried to put him back and they nearly killed him just in maybe 10-20 seconds. It was like wolves descending on a poor innocent lamb.......I had to rescue him, but him back into the garage to recover....and now a month or so later, he is fine and is raring to go. I had some hens in the garage for a few days this week and threw everyone out this morning. That rooster was dancing away at the girls.....none of the other boys had noticed him yet. He better practice his "run for his life" technique today. My big boys will let him go if he runs, if he stands and tries to fight he is going down down down. Sink or swim in NellaBean's yard........he should do just fine. Pretty pretty gold laced bantam cochin boy. He's going to the sale next weekend but if my boyfriend hadn't chosen a different gold laced as "his" bird, I would definitely keep this guy instead. Great attitude, great colors, decent type.

Anywho, back to work!

Beth, I haven't been to the one in Franklin. That would be a good day trip for us. I cannot sew a lick, but back when my kids were in middle school in Dayton, Ohio, the local adult ed night school at the HS had a beginning quilting class, very basic. I took that and bought some books, etc. Today, youtube is full of instructional quilting videos! That would be a great place to start, watching a few of those at beginner level.

Beth is this the one?

Ok can't remember who said what but I'll try.

Cyn, my dels are the best layers I have but I don't have rock yet. While I have a mix of breeds , I want to have a coop dedicated to a heritage breed as well and think everyone should. For me it's Delawares. Trish sent me an e-mail about a guy in Olean,NY, McSpin, who had Dels for sale but when I contacted him he replied his roos were killed so he no longer sells them and is specializing in BLRW's. Will post pics of Georgia boy soon.

Kathy , very nice and do you think it will be to cold in Jan. to ship hatching eggs. I can find them here but don't trust local yokles.

Serrin, can't give

to Trish unless I have a death wish, Mark is bigger than I am and younger.

Their anniversery is this week end so maybe you can send her a card.

Now to all, the ALBC is having a conference in Nov. here in Hamiltion, NY. Has anyone been to one? OOOhhhhh yeah and one of the talks will be about type. Specifically , "The rationale for Selecting for body type in chickens". I am registered to go, hallejujah. I hope I can pay attention long enough to learn something.

The new news letter addresses type also. OOOhhhh and heritage rabbits! They've got a pic of an American and I'm having a hutch built as we speak. Not really, but I was just thinking. Help me Jesus! Why couldn't I have been born rich instead of handsome?

Take care folks, meds are wearin' off.

Cyn, let me go back to the store and snoop again- I don't remember cat's being in the title. But TWO shops would really make the trip worth while!

Ah Finally he is gone! DH I mean. He has clipped the Hawk's wings and has me in my recliner w/ pillow, blanket and taco bell beast. He had to go to the American Legion tonight for a recruiting thing for the Cadet Corp so I can leave my recliner now. *shakes head* Okay, I will admit that this is a nasty one and it is kicking pretty good but sheesh.

So tomorrow, I am dragging myself out to meet with mortgage broker, then by Southern States for another bottle of penicillin. I am not going to be sick for a couple of weeks with this nonsense...I have tons of stuff to do.

Cyn, the quilt is looking beautimus!

Janelle, I am so glad you found my boy...did you tag him? LOL

Back to the recliner ... later all
