It all just sounds plain crazy to me!
WHERE oh where is Nella? Do ya think she is still bothering those broodies, or is she still working her construction job?
What a surprise, Nella was EATING. LOL. That is nearly a full time job for me. It's hard to stay round without round the clock calorie intake. Mexican food, mmmmm.......
I only bothered the broodies a little.....as of 6pm, that last egg was still not pipped or anything. Since 21 days is technically tonight/tomorrow, I will throw it away tomorrow. All the others hatched early. The chick that fell out of the nest last night or this morning was indeed dead as a doornail, so it got tossed. But 15 of 16 eggs hatching under 2 first time broodies is downright awesome. When i went out for night lockup, another chick had fallen out of the nest, so I removed the nest box and just put the hay on the floor....Miss Momma had gotten all the babies tucked back under her by the time i went inside.......the chicks are super adorable.
Final tally:
RIR/Cochin
3 black chicks (1 died)
3 chipmunky chicks
3 yellowish chicks with dark spots
1 blue chick
Silkie
2 black chicks
1 yellow chick (splash)
1 blue chick
1 chipmunk chick
For a grand total of live chicks:
4 black chicks
4 yellow chicks
4 partridge chicks
2 blue chicks
How funny is that? Too bad i didn't set two more eggs, bet that would have been blue! ha ha ha
Both moms are doing good so far. They're both still sitting, but should be getting the babies up and at em probably tomorrow. I put food down in both brooders and I think the waterers are low enough but will probably move them a bit tomorrow just in case.
No building today! The boyfriend was down visiting from Ohio, we had lunch and then he went home. Then I took a giant nap and then I had to go take care of my sisters cats and had a late dinner with my cousin who is in town for work temporarily. Busy day! No building, le sigh.
