Morning, all.

To catch up on the thread...

I'm going to a big thanksgiving dinner with my family. For Christmas I would like a frappuchino machine and the hova bator incubator gnesis thingy. It's gotten a little warmer in Atlanta lately, but today it gets cold again. It rained all day yesterday and will again today. I went to visit some relatives and there are some pictures of a mask I made on this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=420182 Once I get my pictures of the mountains and deer and such off my iPhone and on the computer I'll show you... they're really pretty.

Doesnt do me any good to go to bed early, I guess. You folks just keep right on adding page after page so I have a novel to read first thing with my coffee, LOL. It's extremely windy here today. Will be off to do errands in a few. Post slower, please.

The Dellie bebies have been moved into the big brooder in the carport.. They were SO not happy with me, but they were in serious need of roaming room! Plus they get visited by all the adult flock, who seeks shelter in the carport with this dang rain....

Broody Turkey has been move in the house, and she's now got 2 chicks... the second to hatch was flailing all over the bator, knocking eggs too and fro, so I slipped her under Mama and she's doin terrific!!! The rest of the eggs aren't showing any signs of anything.... Guess I'll leave em in till my other eggs get here later this week.. it can't hurt.. no smells or oozing, so I'll just keep observing.

Maybe I can tell DH this is why we need another bator...

Morning all.....

Many thanks to Beth (joletabey) who was so kind as to pick up and transport these home for me from the Ohio Nationals and to Bob Blosl (who arranged all of this), I am now the proud owner of a trio of Columbian Plymouth Rock LF from a stellar flock in Canada. Its been raining here, so I grabbed a couple of quick pix between showers....they had to be coaxed outside so I apologize that they are not posed well, but they are great looking birds. The male is massive, long straight back, nice yellow legs and good color. He also seems to have a very gentle temperament. Oldest pullet (on left in pix) has great type, size and color. Youngest pullet (center of pix) is a little dark, but has great undercolor and should make an excellent breeder. I am so excited to have these.

Well, I guess you were right.

I brought the little guy back inside, hand fed it, first a soupy mixture of it's feed, then blended eggs and pedialyte. It perked up, even started eating hardboiled egg for a while. Would peep softly at me, and ask to be picked up, it stopped looking all despondant and was eating it's feed on it's own.

Then this morning my siblings woke me up, telling me that they had held it a few times this morning, and then they put it back in it's brooder... after a while, they heard it suddenly start screaming. My brother went in to see it flailing around with it's face to the ground... then it stopped and was gone. :'( :'( :'(

I told myself I wouldn't get attached. But yesterday, when it was acting so much healthier, and so much happier I really got my hopes up. I even was calling it "Beebee".

I had prayed before that the little guy would either get better, or pass quickly so it didn't suffer any longer. I guess that got answered. :'(

Good morning everyone! Currently 50* here, to reach low 60s today. Nice day.

WOW, Scott! You got the Canadian Columbians!

CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!

Brittney has been officially dismissed from the hospital, however, they are keeping her there in a room with the baby because she is breast feeding and the baby is jaundiced. They have put him under lights now. Gosh, nothing around here can be simple and go as planned.....

Nicole, what kind of incubator are you looking at? I like those new plastic ones (easy to clean), but they just look so small. I think I will stick with the styrofaom tabletop models. I may get another one of those .... a HovaBator Genesis. There is much more room in them, and I hear people have good hatches and like them.

redfeather, so sorry for your loss. Hope the others are doing well.

I just got a Brinsea Octo 20 eco... it is a bit cramped, and can see where it being completely full of eggs might cause problems unless everyone hatches at the exact same time... I'm thinkin maybe one of the ones you're talking about might be a good next purchase....though DH and I are pretty handy... might try and make one out of a compact fridge or wine cooler or something.
