I would love to keep every one of them but I am limited and need to make sure that I do not have more than I can take care of, especially in the winter. Besides, DH pays the feed bill.

All the boys are getting along so well right now and the four Delaware cockerals have intergrated into the older flock. My one year old top roo does not seem to mind "The Boys" at all.

I love having dual purpose chickens..... meat and eggs, just like the good ol' days.

Two of Dusty's and one of Smoky's eggs in the incubator (Neela quit on Day 10) are going into Day 16 tomorrow and they were candled for the last time--all three growing fine! The two of Dusty's under Smoky in the broody pen seemed to be viable as well; they are on Day 12 tomorrow. These will be the first of Dusty's babies hatched since she was a year old, I think, though I'm not sure of the last time we actually had one hatch from her. Can't recall what she throws. All will be LH's.

Oh, yes they do! That has been my whole arguement for having these breeds too. I love the dual purpose breeds. Much better than the cornish X's.
