I am switching out cockerels in the project pen, so I have let them both come out to range. Hoping to ease the girls into a change.

The combination of the New Hampshires and Barred Rocks is just genius. New Hampshires are so docile - actually alot like a lap chicken (too docile and calm for my taste). My Barred Rocks are the best foragers I have ever seen. The Delawares are a perfect mix of the two. They forage great and are easy to handle, if needed.

I don't handle my birds alot, but don't have any problem with it when I do.

Hillbilly, I hope you're feeling better today. I'm just so tired from working last night, my eyeballs were sticking to the inside of my lids. Couldn't wait to get home.

Kathy, nice camera! You dabble in the coolest things. Did you do alot of research before you bought that one?

Cynthia, the absorbable sutures are on the way, I'm pretty sure they have a needle attached. And I also got a little scalpel blade.

Karen, you are a DOLL! I'll send you back the postage for them, my friend.

Kathy, I've always loved the BR and the Delaware personalities. I've only had a couple of NH hens, never any of the roosters, so wasn't sure what, if anything, would change in the process. Thanks! It's always necessary that a rooster is easy to handle with you need to do it.
