I had to move chicks around this evening. I have lots of chicks growing out (more than I thought), and am about to downsize to half of them. Most of the boys are going, in most breeds. In my projects - if they don't have bright yellow legs - they go. I think I have about 100 Delaware projects (F3s) now, and still hatching. I'm hatching enough of them to be very picky for the next generation.

Most Orps and Silver Laced Wyandottes are going to Kansas this weekend.

Well it is official Cyn....No more eggs for Dusty. The last time she tried to kill them at only 3 weeks old and now not even a day old she goes nuts. No more for that defective wench.

Zena thinks she has gone over the edge and refuses to eat or drink in her broody buster crate so before the idiot kills herself I gave her 6 Rufus eggs and put her in a special Broody Bin inside a crate in the basement. It is too ****** hot for her big fluffy butt to be broody outside. *sigh* These Orps are not right in the head, I swear.

Broody hens????? HA ! ! Here is my Broody-Buster tonight. There are more inside..... 16 total tonight, and 3 are sitting (I'll get them tomorrow)..... Do you see all those F2s there (and F1s)?! OMG! There are 3 Barred Rocks inside pouting, too. I think I am safe to say that my Delawares will, "carry the broody gene!"

F3 Delaware are big what age ?

They made our forecast WORSE. 104* today, Saturday and Sunday. I'm not going to lose birds if I can help it, but it may be beyond my control. Ice patrol will go on all day. And I'm staring out with a headache and stuffy nose already. I don't do heat well, either.

Well DH and I constructed the military chicken compound this morning and everyone is in day pens and such with fans and ice water and inside the compound...now I patrol with ice and pray.

Well I am going back at it....ice has melted and time to change it again....I refuse to lose birds in this heat like last year dang it.
