Someone locally is selling an old Sears and Roebuck cabinet incubator. I haven't gone out to see it yet but the poster of the ad says it needs a new thermostat. They're asking $200.

Is it worth it? What likely would have to be replaced, besides the thermostat? How would I even replace that? What about the heating element or the fan? I found an old post on here about someone finding one in a barn but they never posted to say if they got it running.

PS- For anyone interested, here is the ad. http://lafayette.craigslist.org/grd/2603952625.html I'm probably not going to pick it up so if someone else thinks they can get it running and feels that that was a good price, HAVE AT IT!

But I demand a silkie-incubating finder's fee!

edit: Ohh! Found an ad with a picture. http://lafayette.craigslist.org/grd/2569257468.html Doesn't look as old as I thought it was.

It may be worth it but probably not. Its old. I think all the wiring should be replaced along with the heating element. Do it your self $50.

You can build one comparableand probably better for less than $200 if you have a few tools.
