Seasoning Freshly Killed Birds

Hello, total newbie here.

After butchering and while resting a chicken, is it okay to season the meat? Some seasoning, especially salt, hinders bacterial growth; would seasoning the bird in that first 48hrs negatively effect the flavor/tenderness?

Does anyone have any anecdotal evidence to suggest yea or nay? Thanks!
 
Are you going to cook it after those 48 hours or freeze it?
