They are beyond stunning. What do you feed your geese? Maybe it's something I should feed mine. The beaks are so bright. They are on my birds too but nothing like yours. Although, mine are still young. Your birds just look super healthy....... lol. I do like the saddle backs. Are they a cross with an American Buff? That's what I heard and I happen to have one of those.

I am putting a smooth breasted Sebbie female up for sale locally, and an American Buff and a Cotton Patch as well. If anybody would like them as a sebbie project just let me know. Cheap, just need to make some money to buy myself another gander.

Beautiful birds Vicky & addictedtoquack!!!!

My birds have dr:Died off and are a bit dirty now, but the rain will continue tomorrow throughout the week......

Thank you! We have not had much rain at all so they have not had a chance to play in a muddy puddle.

Their beaks and feet can get washed out during production and the breeding season.
Keep in mind those pics were taken in December after they regrew their feathers
and recouperated from the breeding season.
I feed multi-flock pellet and whole oats.
Supplement with Calf Manna during the breeding season.
NO corn.
Lots of dandelion greens for goslings.
Apples free choice in the fall from our apple trees plus they get occasional treats of melon,
pumpkins and squash. They even loved baked squash or left over baked skins w/ pulp.
They have access to lush grass spring - fall and I'm a freak about lots of fresh water daily
for bathing and drinking.
See my websites tip page for how I manage my waterfowl.

Americans were used to introduce solid colors such as buff, blue etc. to the breed but
Pomeranian's were used to create saddleback.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that helps a lot. A feed store has some crimped oats for 1/2 price which I would love to get for me geese and ducks if it's something they can eat. Any feed 1/2 price is always worth getting but I wanted to make sure it's something that would be good for them. You mentioned whole oats any difference between the two?

You can tell you spend a lot of time with your geese. They all look very happy. I have a pair and I just think they are a joy to have. Quite the conversationalist.......... lol. Is that a word? They had a chat with the neighbor who looked over the fence today. It was so cute. There names are Fred and Ginger and they are close to 6 months old. I also have a female American Buff and I think a female Super African and they are cool too and only 3 1/2 months old. I just love the personalities. A lot of my birds including the two young geese needed new homes and I was happy to ablige......

Crimped oat have been mechanically squashed, sort of flattened so they are suppose to be easier to digest....but I wonder about the insides drying out and losing nutrients so I feed whole oats. You can train your geese to eat them by starting then when they are young or gradually adding oats to their diet. My ducks don't seem real crazy about oats but will eat some.
20% of young goslings ration can consist of oats. New hatchlings can be started on oatmeal and greens.

Yes geee are very special and great conversationalists!
Yakkity YAK!

I feel like a pull toy when my goslings are loose...they WON'T leave me alone.
I sure know where the saying "silly goose" comes from.

LOL...... you aren't kidding about the "silly goose" phrase. I say it to them all the time. How about the phrase "goose"? I watched my goose goose my turkey tom. The best is when the chickens goose the geese. Then one day I tossed something over a duck and I automatically yelled "duck" and the duck ducked....... roflol!!! Of course there are times when the a goose or duck with chase a chicken and of course the chicken is now considered a "chicken" for running away. It's just funny when a chicken "gooses" a goose and a goose will chase a Turkey and of course they all "duck" for cover when they see something in the sky that frightens them which makes them all "chickens!"

I do like the chattiness. They act as if I totally understand what they are saying. Funny how they look at you as if they know what they are talking about then suddenly turn and walk off to do something else.

As for the crimped oats. If they are still at the store and the price is right I may pick them up. My geese like anything. Even if they don't eat it another bird will...... haha.

If any of you Okies (Oklahoma) in here are interested in getting Sebasopols, give me a shout. I have 5 birds that need new homes. I can send pics if seriously interested. Email me with questions and for prices.
These are priced to move to new homes quickly. May consider shipping if buyer can provide box.
