What do I do?
My blue Sebastopol girl has decided to go broody....... I had one White Chinese egg in her nest just to keep her laying in the same spot(I just got the blue pair the first of March). Once I noticed she was not getting off of her nest I tucked another Chinese egg beside her - she rolled it right under her. I have mixed feelings about her going broody - 1. I would rather she continued giving me an egg every other day (I have no intentions of hatching White Chinese) 2. It might be nice to see what kind of a Momma she is for the future.
My problem is my blue boy. He stands at the fence and hollers for the White Chinese. He is in a very very large fenced in pen with an attached very large room (this room is where my girl is). I kept them separate from the other geese for obvious reasons ....... I wanted pure breed eggs.
Do I:
Leave the pair together and let him "cry" for the other geese (a pair of Chinese)?
Let my boy out and leave my girl in by herself?
Open the area up for free flow of all the poultry?
I had planned to keep them separated until laying season was finished. And I thought if my girl went broody the boy would be "by her side". Help!
