ON the peas I always cook them but you can do like Miss Lydia said and put them in the microwave and take the chill off. But peas are great for shaky legs or being off kilter I call it.
I spoil my geese and gosling terribly...Right now because of laying season and the stress of breeding and laying eggs. I got to walmart and by this mixture of nuts and berries for wild birds. The nuts has lots of calcium in them and that is what the girls need to replace in their systems. It also has berries in there and I take and feed it with their normal feed. About a cup to feed 17 adults. Grapes they love, apples, tomatoes, some cooked corn not a lot, water melon and the rind, just try different things with them they will show you they like it or you can stick this one.

Mine loves canalope.. and cranberries... and honeydew.. LOL. And lots more!!

Hi all,
Remember that young gander (6-7 wks old) that had shaky legs? Well it seemed to go away for the afternoon, then come back the next morning. I am giving niacin tablets in the water and peas, which they don't seem to like. Sometimes he seems fine, then other times shaking like crazy. I have been doing this treatment for about 4 days. I also reduced the protein in their feed. Today he is sitting by himself, away from the other and peeping non stop. I am worried about him. I gave him a few drops of nutri drench in his mouth. Any ideas to what is wrong? Please help!

That might be something that just takes time to fully recover from.

I re-habbed a "house goose" that couldn't even hold her wings up at 4 months- she was so deficient, but after about 2 weeks she was almost 100%. They have good days and bad- the slightest thing could set them back a day. You're doing the right stuff, I think.

I know they LOVE ice burg lettuce!
I would call a vet and ask over the phone :)

I wondered that too, how long it takes to build them back up. Does anyone have the correct dosage for niacin tablets for goslings?

I left my goose a fake egg to encourage her to continue laying, but I think that she has decided that one egg is enough.

She laid me 3 eggs over the course of 4 days, but now it's been 3 days since the last egg and she's sitting very tight on her fake egg. If she has decided that one is enough, should I take that egg away to encourage her to lay more? I was hoping for more than 3 eggs...

Have you called around to other vets? I know some will. You dont have to call someone close.
Yes, I have. Bird vets are few and far between around here and all of them tell me that it is illegal to give treatment advice without seeing the patient. I held him for a couple of hours last night. He seemed to enjoy the attention. He laid with his feet out back and slept on my arm. His poop looks normal and he pooped 3 times, so I know he is eating well. I guess I will continue with what I am doing and hope he catches up on it soon.

Any recommendations for a source for quality (would like to show) Sebastopols?

Also looking for Pomeranians and Buff Americans. Holderreads has discontinued the breeds I am interested in having.
