Look at their behavior and listen to the noises they make.

In general, males will be more outgoing--females more shy. Males lead the way when they are ranging.

Males have LOUD, obnoxious calls and "talk" a lot more. Females have a quieter honk that is lower sounding and not as ear-splitting...

Pilgrims are auto sexing....so there's both genders here...


You can hear the females' lower noises the ganders' trumpeting, obnoxious ones.

holy cow!!! I swear it was a dog whining up a storm to go out!!!! thats so cool. we had a yellow naped amazon ( in laws did for 30+ years until they had to rehome it) it used to scream my hubbies name EXACTLY like his mother! at 4:30 in am ( while we were visiting FL) we heard his "mother" yelling for him and he freaked out thinking something was wrong with her and he rushed into her bedroom to find her sleeping!! then we went to the bird and he was just a screaming "MARK.....MMMAAARRRKKKK!!!!" funniest thing ever!
