Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

I also tried alfalfa pellets. They completely ignored them. I've been following a thread on BYC about growing fodder on a small scale. I'm definitely going to give it a try!

The thread is "Growing fodder for chickens"

Mine won't touch alfalfa pellets either. Just going to do lots of sprouts and keep as many greens as I can on hand.

Somebody had shown me plans for sprouting in hanging 5 gallon buckets that have screens at the bottom to water a bucket below, and one below that. Anybody have a link for that? I know you have to leave a big " + " on the bottom to hold the screen in.

Someone on the fodder thread has made a very simple automated setup using PVC pipe for a stand and using black nursery trays (the ones with small drainage holes) to grow the fodder in. I'm posting from my phone but I'll try to edit this and put in a link in a bit.

Edited to add the link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/713334/growing-fodder-for-chickens/10

See post 18. She automated her system with a little pump and used a rubbermaid type storage container for a reservoir, but many people on the thread use the soak and drain method. I am intrigued and am clearing out a space in my greenhouse to try it.

I have a couple of questions. One its my goose and gander have a little dry flaky looking spots on their bills is that normal? And my four month old gander tried to bite my daughter today as she walked past him, she was walking kinda fast and had a dress on, she spends the most time with the birds next to me so it worries me, .He also bites chickens. Is he just going to be mean or what? I let him free range all day on about 1/2 acre maybe i shouldn't. Any suggestions?
