Sebastopol geese

Maybe when We finish expanding our pen I'll be able to get a few geese. I have a 40 x 36 pen that my ducks stay in at night and when i'm not home. When I am home they free range on 5 acres. We are building another pen the same exact size or larger. I currently have 16 permenant ducks and 6 temp ducks - so I'm hoping when I get the new pen I'll be able to get some geese. Sebbies are just so... Stunning! I saw someone down the road the other day with a large ( 12 or so ) flock of toulouse geese and I am sorely tempted to go over their and bother them with questions lol

In general Sebastopols aren't suppose to be as loud or aggressive as say Africans or Chinese although there can be exceptions to the rule in any breed. All ganders tend to be aggressive during the breeding season from mock charging and hissing to outright attacking and biting. Don't turn your back on them during the breeding season
ort allow little children around them unsupervised..
One of my ganders likes to bite me when I'm not looking.
He considers my butt a big target. (well I guess it is)
Another one of my ganders only hisses at me and never attempts to bite me.
Sebastopol gosling's raised by humans from birth are utterly adorable, bright and puppy-like
but with age become more independent as they should. They're just being geese.
Goslings raised by their parents can be highly timid and the parents are extremely protective.
I love my Sebastopols and they bring me much joy.
I only wish I had gotten some sooner.
Geese are far more personable & intelligent than ducks or chickens
but they do require the right set up (room, boundries and grass) or they can be a pain.

Maybe they're related! Ours is named Birdie-it would respond to no other name! She is a Timnah, and does all the chicken and goose vocals, along with speech and cat and dog sounds.
