We have 10 month old goose who's blue eye is now black looking . He keeps it closed and it's watters up . He is eating and drinking and has a bucket to wash is head in. Not sure what we should do for him while we are trying to find a vet
You can give him saline drops to flush it out. I tried Veterycin opthalmic gel on one of my drakes 3X/day. It didn't do anything, so after several days of that, I mixed up a few drops of natural honey a friend had given me and some rosewater (an ice cube of it) I had in the freezer. (It was a recipe I found online intended for human use.) After a day and a half his eyes stopped foaming and crusting over, so I put him back out with his buddies. No more problem.
Hmm, sounds like maybe he's poked it, or scratched it.
Do you have any other ganders? Is it possible they were fighting?
You could also try Curicyn drops. I was able to find them at TSC with the other livestock meds.
Hi, there. Just checking in to see how your bird is doing. Updates to these threads are quite helpful for people in the future experiencing the same problem.
