sebbie goose internally pipped but......

OH CRAP. I did that yesterday however, I couldn't keep the humidity up. It kept dropping despite my efforts. It' reading 56% right now. I will leave it alone for a while until I see a pip. Does this mean I should turn them again, and put on lockdown again after the pip? Maybe put them in an upright position for hatch, like I do for my chicken eggs?

I clearly have a lot more to learn.
Ruru can help you with this more than I can....she uses incubators to hatch sebbies.
But have you read through that thread about incubation yet? It really is a must, you´ll learn a lot.

Just leave them alone and on their side and DO NOT move them. They will be getting into position to start to pip. Everyone please remember you DO NOT RAISE the humidity or put them in high humidity until the have externally piped then you put them in the high humidity. Now if you can not keep the humidity up take either a clean hand wash cloth and wet it good and fold in in half and then in half again or a brand new sponge and wet it and put it in to bring your humidity up high like you want. You can ad more if the humidity does not go to 75% or more. Then if the membrane does stick to the gosling some take a spray bottle with warm water in it and spray the membrane a little or take a clean Q-tip and put warm water on the membrane...
Hope this helps some!

I did read it...only half heartedly. I was told to hatch them just like chickens only raise the humidity higher during lockdown. They said if I read everything online about incubating, it would be to much information. Banging my head now because the one that did internally pip......It didn't make it. I candled it again (through the glass lid in the bator.. didn't open it) and there was no more movemet in the air cell. So I quickly took it out and listened for the clicks and nothing. When I opened the egg up, it looked like it was shrink wrapped already. The remaining two eggs are still in there but I questioned if they were still alive before I even moved them to he hatcher.

I wont give up on hatching them, only this time, I will study study STUDY that incubation forum. But for now, I'm sticking with what I know.......CHICKENS.

Thanks you two VERY much for putting up with me and being so kind In helping me.

I sure wished I had looked online more on how to hatch goslings because I lost so many eggs from not knowing what or how to hatch them. The general book that comes with the incubator just tell you how to hatch each breed but not all the other things you need to know! Then I found The Sebastopol Geese Lovers form The Sebastopol Geese forum and then BYC and there is so much help on them!!!

I am sorry you lost that gosling. Sorry I was not in time to help you sooner....

RURU, you were a great help and a true blessing to me. I just recently found the SGLF. I posted this same exact question there and you were quick to answer. I will be spending A LOT more time on it from now on and more time on the forum here for geese. Looking forward to every minute of it. Better go get started, I have a lot to learn. hahaha

Hi Lismarc, sorry about your experience with the gosling. sad. But next time, you´ll know. We all learn. This past year I had some problems with some of my goslings that I hadn´t had before, and I lost 3 or 4. I learned stuff on these threads, and after that hiccough, I didn´t lose any more. Once you´ve done it successfully, you´ll be helping other first-timers.
