I’ve got a 1.5 yr old Sebright hen who is a pretty good layer by breed standards. She goes broody every time she goes off lay. She’s just come back into lay in the last week or so, but has started crowing from time to time. I know this can be a lack of rooster/dominance thing, but she is our only bantam and not our dominant hen. Is it a common breed trait? She is certainly a hoot who marches to the beat of her own drum!

My silver laced Sebright hen used to also crow usually when you don't have any roosters they will crow it is completely okay!

I’ve noticed a lot of sebrights and bantams mentioned when I search crowing hens and kind of wondered if there was any correlation. She’s such a cutie next to the big girls giving it her all.

Was just going to say this. Most of the crowing hens I've seen are Sebrights.

I have a bantam Cochin hen that crows.
