I numbered them for you... And I pretty much got all of them at one point or another. It wasn't easy, as they are VERY busy babies. 3 of them have combs and 5 don't so far. The Barred Cochin bantam boy is the survivor of the 6 eggs I got from someone in Georgia that were brooded with your Marans eggs. They are now officially 7 wks old...

Well the one is number 5 in the bowl is a rooster. I am pretty sure your blue one is too. I would say the Wheaten is too. Looks like the others are hens. They still might surprize you. They are growing up good. I have 20 here now they are the last from that rooster. I plan on getting another rooster later this year.

Good Job with them.

Thanks for your input on the group. I kinda figured the three with combs were probably boys... Was hoping one of the two black coppers was a boy but they both look girly to me. Might just get a black copper roo from someone else unless one of those blue coppers fill in pretty.

Thanks... He is such a character. Guess he's going to be the lucky one that my 12 yo will be showing this year at the fair. We may let him show the Buff Columbian Cochin bantam as well. She is the Buff one behind the chicks in pic 5. She was the broody momma that hatched all these chicks.

I have two pullets from this group. I have a blue and black. They haven't started coppering yet, but they are very nice looking. I sold the rooster because he was passing a mossy look on to the chicks that I didn't like. People say the ones with that mossy look lay really dark eggs. I don't know, because I didn't keep any of those. I am going to keep all of the chicks from my last hatch that don't have any mossy look to their feathers. I just love the blues.

The one on pic 11, is that what mossy is... I'm not familiar with that look. Or is he just getting his coppering in? If that blue starts coppering I may keep him. I think the blue copper males are beautiful. But yeah, I am real partial to blue chickens. I think they are really pretty.

Speaking of dark eggs... I got two of the 8 eggs that were way darker that the others... Number 11 was the first born and he was from one of the darker eggs... Only reason I remember that one was because he had a brown face so he has been easy to trace and keep track of.

The rooster in number 5 has the mossy look and so does the hen above him on the left. Some think that look is pretty. I do too but I want to show mine someday, so I need to get rid of the mossy looking ones.
