Too early to tell on the 3 potential Guin eggs (Buff Orpington/Guinea cross) I set last week. Same for the 27 Buckeye and Wyandotte eggs set in the new incubator on Friday.
Haven't been able to find if/where the guineas are hiding their eggs in the woods, but one helpful hen decided to start laying in the barn. She said these are for SilkieSensation if she still wants 'em.

SURE!!!! PM me & let me know what I have that you would like in exchange for them. Swap page is listed in my siggy.

Hey everyone, I might have messed up, I have a turkey poult that pipped sunday, I could see it had not made any progress as of this morning, so dummy me did not realize poults have 2 membranes, at least that is what it look like to me, as I was chipping away, I kept going because it looked like the veins were dried up and as I was removing the shell only the poult stated chriping loudly and trying to get out, well once it did get out I noticed that there was blood and the yolk sac was not fully absorbed. just a little left, poult is lively and bright eyed and I left it in the incubator, since no other eggs are hatching, it was one of 6 I found in a secret nest in neighbors yard in a snow storm, all the others did not develop, so now what should I do? My instincts tell me to leave it in the bator until it drys off and then go to Meyer and see if they have any poults for sell to keep it company. Does that sound right?
Thanks Dummy Michele

This was asked on another thread and I think its a pretty cool idea to know why others chose their sign on names!

Anyone want to share how you came up with your screen name?

SALLY SUNSHINE:
I worked outside many years as Horticulturist, my hair was sun bleached and I was the happiest healthiest girl on the earth as I tended to the land and my nickname grew as Sunshine or Sunny. So it stuck for computer alias ever since! I have since turned to poo on the outside, but its still me on the inside.

But one day I will be healthy again, I have to keep kicking sick's butt until then!
I got mine very easy, I still carry my married name, due to me not liking the ex I removed one of the letters and came up with Mstricer which actually is my first initial and my last name minus the "k" and I think everyone thinks I'm Ms. tricer

hello! just saw this and since i have turkey eggs incubating I thought I would jump in. I did not set on the right day, but will have lots of turkeys comming from now until the first week of June. this is my first time hatching. the first batch just hatched over the weekend. and I got 20 out of 28 eggs hatched. next batch goes on lock down in two days. that batch is 60 eggs. I also have a batch of 107 started on 4/10 and 104 on 4/20. I will start three more batches of 100+ over the next couple weeks.

the eggs are from red burbon, slate, and Narragansett hens with burbon toms.
Welcome to the looney bin . . . . straight jacket required . . . . you can put in an order but I think the desiner just retired.

I would like to hatch large white turkeys this year.
THe Turkeys for 2013 thread has many members, you might try there. Sorry this sounded rude so Edited to add-- you are welcome to stay and visit too. What do you have incubating?

Just thought I'd check in. I'm so tired and I slept most of the afternoon away. My hypoglycemia attacked about an hour before dinner so I ate a sandwich and fell asleep on the couch until dinner was done. I went back to sleep after that and slept until about an hour ago and decided to get up for a bit and ended up candling a few eggs. My one Pekin egg is still going strong. I hope it makes it to hatch. I only candled 3 of the quail eggs and 2 of the 3 are doing fantastic. The chick in one of them has no spots near it, so I can see it plain as day. My 4 bantam EEs don't seem to be doing anything, but I'm holding out hope. My LF EE and EE over layer (BR from the looks of it!) are doing great. The one OEGB doesn't seem to be doing anything. My lone silkie is doing great (another I'm excited about!) and my bantam Cochin mix doesn't look like it's doing anything either. I set the only egg I had from my hen Tally with them to help gauge where they all should be at and it's doing fantastic as well!

I had a Dr's appointment today. They told me that everything looks good and I'm right where I'm supposed to be at. Next time I go in I get my final (I think) ultrasound to figure out how/where SJ is positioned, fluid volume, and to get my pre-admittance taken care of. My SIL had an appointment at the same time I did and they changed her C section date to this Friday. I get to see my 3rd niece earlier than I thought!

Some time after I got home my dad, Blu, and I ended up making a temporary grow out pen from a dog house and scraps of fence left over from tomato cages (I mostly watched) for Bob, Tripp, Dinner, and our 3 young hens. Bob decided he wanted to try to fight Tripp (my rose comb HRIR), but Tripp wanted nothing to do with it.

I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow since I missed my chance today by sleeping. The white game hen I have in the pen with them needs to be moved into Tally and Stupid's (yes, that's his name) cage. I'm too lazy to do it tonight, so I'll do it tomorrow night.

Goodnight everyone. I'm off to eat again and then go back to sleep. I don't want to be this tired tomorrow.
Dear Raz, because no one will tell you. Get plenty of rest while you can. WHen that baby comes you will also need to rest when that baby sleeps. Take of you hon, so you can take care of the baby. It is not selfish to put " me" first-- I found I could do a lot more for my kids when I took care of "me" first. I'm as excited about your new baby as I was about my own!!

Me too. I sell the freshest and sell the rest-est!

I have been having such rotten luck with people on CL lately saying they want chicks and then flaking out. I hatched some blue/black sex link chicks (which I put pictures up here) and I had a lady say she wanted them but couldn't get them until the weekend (it was like a Tuesday). So I said I would hold them for her and come Friday she says her plans have changed and she can't get them. She was asking about shipping but I really don't want to go through all that work for 10 chicks. So I contact a guy who said he wanted them and and then after we started getting things set up for him to come out he just stops contacting me. Then yesterday a lady says she is coming at 4 to pick up the chicks. So at 4 I get an email saying she can't find my street. I email her back asking where she is at and right after that I send another email with my phone #. She was only 5 miles from my house but instead of trying to figure out where I am at she goes home. So frustrating!

SOrry, it is frustrating. I do better at sale venues. Perhaps get deposits when the party is willing-- that was advised to me but honesly most people won't do that if they don't know you. I hear you.

I still carry my first husband's last name too so that when my kids were little there wouldn't be confusion at the schools. If someone calls me Mrs. McPhillips I tell them right away that they can call me Ms McPhillips or Mrs. Wilson (DH's last name) but NOT Mrs. McPhillips. Did have to laugh one time though, one of DD's friend's dad called DH Mr. McPhillips. Cracks me up to this day
