**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

Where's your dad located?

I do love it up here but the winter is a bit long. I get squirrely. Still - peaceful and beautiful. Warm today (in the 50s) but had a woodstove fire in the basement while we were building the hive to take a little bit of the damp off. Nothing like the warm feel and smell of that. The tide has turned and it is definitely spring, even if it snows again. Hope, promise, renewal. So many months of gorgeous warm weather ahead of us.
He lives in Warren right now, but I lived from birth to late 30's in Union. Blueberry Festival! So midcoast. Actually I lived on Spruce Head Island for about 6 months also. We'll be retiring back home. Wish that wasn't 15-20 years from now. Yeah, I miss the woodstove also. And the sauna, making wreaths, maple syrup. It's just worth all the shoveling and getting creative with employment etc.

Not too far from me. I'm between Augusta and Waterville. I'm going to bee school in Thomaston every Tuesday night so I drive right through there.

I'm lucky my job can take me anywhere. And I'd prefer to stay in Maine, but would like to move up to Caribou eventually. The acreage up there is incredibly cheap.

Awww. Tell hubs ya can't cull for a little TMJ.

Might I ask what TMJ means? Lol. I'm a little slow!

So this little guy was born last week and I just noticed he has cross beak. I'm not sure how bad it will be eventually but he's eating good right now. The hubby wants to cull him but I just don't have the heart too, just incase its not to bad. What's your guy's take?

Temporomandibular joint disease (in humans when your jaw joint locks up). If he's eating okay, I'd just leave him be. Just make sure he's not involved in any breeding, it is generally genetic.

Very cool. Want to take classes for that here. My mother's whole family is from Thomaston, 1/2 via Finland. Caribou is pretty fabulous. The solitude would be lovely.

Oh sorry. Temporal mandibular joint syndrome. Means your jaw is a little cattywampus. Clicking, stiffness, pain, grinding, clenching in the jaw joint. I get physical therapy for it. Sometimes my jaw snaps painfully when I chew.

The right side of my jaw is currently not meeting when I close my mouth sorta like your little chickie.

I used to have that.. until a horse spooked and slammed me into a fence post... face first...
I didnt get hurt.. but it did knock my jaw back to where it was supposed to be.. or chipped off a piece of bone that was in the wrong place.. whichever... it got better after the face smashing.. so I counted that as a blessing!

I hated the painful jaw popping the most.. and waking up with a sore face in the mornings...

As of today, I have 23 turkey eggs saved for the hatch................and a week to go....................

I have 12 (mixed bunch of golden palm, blue slate and black spanish... not really sure what I'll get but we'll see) and I'm supposed to pick up another 12 on tuesday from a nearby source. I'm debating whether to go get that second dozen. I know you all will say "of course you should, the more the merrier" but I'm not sure how DH will take that. lol. I think he's already annoyed that I'm setting more chicken eggs as tutors.

"What do you mean you're going to hatch more chicks? Do I get to eat any of these eggs!?"
