**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

There was a Serama named Guv
Who became quite obsessed with his love
She'd squat on command
When he made his demand
Ohhhh....if only she wasn't a....DUCK!

(This is actually a true story.  My little Serama cockerel set his sights on my chocolate/white Muscovy duck and I saw him many times up on her back, beak full of her head feathers, wiggling away doing his thing.  Of course since his parts matched up approximately with her shoulder blades, I never worried too much about winding up with Seramucks).
Oh, my... I have the exact same thing going on here. Only my Romeo is a bantam Cochin. LOL I thought the situation was perfect to write a limerick about, but what rhymes with "duck?"

Limerick for Thursday

Debs_Flock is the name that we know.
Her humor and kindness, she'll show.
She once had a trukey
she loved and called Lurkey,
Who's gone now and Deb misses so.

Aww, thanks! But I won't read that to Lurkey..............she's still cruising around the pen. So far I haven't brought myself to "process" any of the 13 from last year. Probably why I already have 34 eggs saved for Sunday and I'm getting 3-5 every day. I better be able to find buyers for turkey poults or we are going to be eating a lot of turkey this year (or be wall to wall turkey).

I have been nabbed so count me in to hatch something!

I will be reading for the next 10 hours as to what's going on over here!

But first straight jacket?

Read on, little missy! You'll fit right in, though we're all a bit snug...

It's the wrap around sleeves.

I showed a little girl I watch that I will hatch with the Cinco de Mayo and she said I don't like Mayo she likes miracle whip

I remember when my girls were little they learned to read sooooo young that they hadn't heard a lot of the words prior to reading them. With Cinco de Mayo, I remember some bastardization of the song 'Day-o' where we changed all of the long 'A' sounds to long 'I' and worked 'Cinco de Mayo' into it somehow...

Ah, the good ol' days when I had energy and brain cells...

Dont forget Snuck & Pluck

I would go straight for amok!! One of my favorite words.

Really? I thought I read that Lurkey was no more..... Did somone else have a Lurkey that met an untimely end?
There was a Lurkey owned by someone in Arizona...and one owned by someone in Kansas...can't remember much more about that.

My eggs arrived today

6 golden palm eggs and 9 blue and/or black. The auction I won for the blue/black eggs was for 6 eggs but the seller threw in 3 extras.

How long should I let shipped eggs sit before putting them in the incubator? They're currently on the top shelf of a closet (I have a 2 year old with endless curiosity, lol) in cardboard egg cartons, little side down. I've read/heard conflicting reports on whether I should be turning them before setting. Suggestions?
