**~~>>Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon<<~~**all poultry welcome!

I set my wellie eggs (16) at noon. It is try #3 for me with the least amount of eggs. I am really hoping I get a few good hens.
Good luck!

Checked my Cinco de Mayo Turkey eggs (black Spanish), looks like most are developing nicely. :) Just had my first turkeys hatch today, looks like 2 of 2 blue slates and 1 of 2 royal palms. Here they are along with the first tutor out. The rest are due to hatch tomorrow (tutors). Adorable little peanuts.
Now, I am the one squealing! "Adorable little peanuts" is such a perfect description!! Wouldn't have thought of "peanut" but it sure fits! On another note (and thread) ;) I just realized a bit ago today is Day 19 for the three eggs under Punkin brooding in the dog bed!

I filled the waterer and as I opened the top door to put it in, the hen flew straight up and out!

We managed to catch her and entertain all the customers at the store at the same time. Two of them are now safely home, but still in the tempory cage because it is raining this morning. I will get pics when the sun returns.

Good catch, they can be lively!

Congrats on the Peanuts! LOL

Linda good luck with Punkin. I just pulled another chick out of the Phoenix box. I have 7 now, 4 to go. I have them in every size possible from just over a week LOL

Went out ot collect eggs and since the Marans Pen still isn't fixed and I have birds all over!!!....... I managed to find a new dusting hole to step in. I got 40 eggs today. Down to 35 that went flying!! Thanks girls!!

Oh and still can't find an answer to possibly having a carbon dioxide problem. I'd really appreciate if someone could explain it to me.

Looks like my yard! We have a decent sized creek running through the west side yard between our house and the woodshed. Our little pond in the south pasture is now a lake! The Canada geese are really enjoying it I guess because they've been out there honking and splashing about all day. They just reenforced my vow to never own geese. something about their honking is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Sorry to all the goose fanciers

It did get me to thinking about ducks though... Hmmm. come on enablers, what kinds of ducks should I get? lol
Our run was flooded and our ditches full, which the ducks loved, but the neighbors had a bigger puddle so the ducks went awol and wouldn't come home, knowing I couldn't get to them in the middle of the pond/puddle...they are safely home now though after one night left out, and all doing well (but it sure was a little stressful to me! I have Rouens and a Cayuga and I love them both. They are beautiful, sweet, funny, and very entertaining to watch and play with.

I remember the first time a friend of mine saw the chooks mate. Before she realized what was happening, it was over already. LOL
Over here, we don't use the word "covered" either. We use "serviced"

Serviced makes sense..I like that...we always just say he "got" her. lol
Here are my new ducklings we just picked up

Squee! The cuteness! I just love duckies. Congrats!

I think I do. I wanted to try hatching store bought fertile eggs, but I can't seem to find them. Our local whole foods store is too far away to convince anyone it's worth it.
I'd be happy to send you some eggs, I could probably spare half a dozen duck eggs or so if you're interested...they would be either rouen's or cayuga/rouen mix (dad is a rouen/runner mix.) Just let me know, and send me your addy if you want some. ;)

So...sorry I went awol, the temptation to candle was too great when hanging out here so I had to disappear and get side-tracked for a bit...well, it worked, and I candled tonight...looks like I have 9 for sure that are viable (with the most amazing, tiny little beating hearts) and 3 that are iffy....on was a hard boiled egg that accidentally got mixed in (lol) Actually 2 were, but I realized the first one was, and pulled it out, and pitched it and replaced it on day one with a new, fertile egg. The three that are iffy have blood rings and were a little "younger" and/or added a day later, so I am holding out hope. I know it sounds silly, but my husband and I have lost 2 babies in the last year, and seeing these tiny babies growing has just brought me some joy, and hope, and wonder, and the idea that I might have BABIES in 20ish days! Oh I am just tickled. I hope everything keeps going well. We are doing a unit study for science in our homeschool right now, and the kids are going to be so excited when we candle the eggs tomorrow! Alright, I'm off to write for a bit, then heading to bed!

Oh crux...lets see if I can remember all the multis I pushed. Grrrrr

Ceoka...your humidaire incubator is not helping you be restrained. You should come to POOPS. A great place to sell chicks and meet fellow byc'ers. And for those who are curious POOPS is People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap for local BYC'ers.

SCG you do great dialogues. With pics. Love the duck one but the emu ones are my fav.

Some one please egg bomb me with those silver campines..my address is

Hmmmm....what else...what else....senior moments...

Or Blonde moment change of topic.....
I keep candeling but don't see any veins in the turkey eggs. Only 6 days but normally I see veins by now in chicken eggs. Should I be worried?
True I am an addict. My hubby loves check the incubator and finding new fluffy butts. I have been so busy during the weekend he has totally taken over! I was out dress shopping with my daughters today (because her dress I ordered two months ago is not going to be here) called me all excited telling me all about our new babies.

I would love to come to POOPS but I won't know if I can make it till the pageant is over. We have our Rose Rock Parade that morning and if my girls win talent or get crowned they have to preform their talents a the festival. ( this is their 10th year and have never been crowned so hoping and praying this is their year) but if not I am still extremely proud of them!

Hi everyone! New to the forum though have used it for a while when needing info on hatching, just now finally decided to actually sign up (not sure why it took so long). Just put my first turkey eggs in today, I've done chickens but no turkeys yet so hopefully everything turns out
