here's one of the duck eggs I cracked open:

I didn't bother to try to keep it since it hadn't been turned.. but this had been sitting on the counter for about a week or so (the cats had rolled it back behind a cannsiter that I rarely used.. so he had been there for a bit .. not 100% sure)..he was alive and well until I ended his poor little life...

.. I may have to get some from you later on after your orders have been filled

Broke down and bought a second incubator for the surprise batch of eggs I received yesterday. I feel like I've officially gone over to the dark side.

Only problem: The box says this incubator holds 50 eggs and I only have 27 to put in it... No, No, No. Stop thinking like that!

yes, you need to order 2 dozen eggs.. when they send extras (that won't fit) you will need a new bator.. naturally you can't incubate just a few eggs in it.. so you'll have to order at least 4 dozen... and with extras you will need a fourth bator... naturally you can't just leave it with only a few eggs... so you'll have to order more

yes.. this is the hotdog and bun scenario.. there's never enough of one or the other.. so you must continue to buy them until it balances out... which in chicken math that = never!

don't feel bad.. I have broken so many toes just by walking across the floor... from the time I was 12 til 16 I had broken almost every bone in my body (extremely accident prone and had brittle bones...)

It was the grosses thing I've ever seen and smelt, now I know what death smells like. The problem is I was going to turn eggs, add water and lock down the soveys hatching this weekend, I had to have the incubator open a while, I noticed a lot of pipping going on, I misted the sides and the trays, removed stinky tray and cleaned up the bottom best I could. Will this shrink wrap the duckies, I've never hatched ducks before and thought they weren't going to hatch until late sunday, they had different plans. Will they be alright

they should be.. just make sure they are misted down well (but try to avoid soaking the pips)

Okay I will go and mist again, but it stinks down there and I can't seem to get the stench out of the room, even with doors and windows open. How long do you think it will take to go away

OMG! Me too! Last year none, so I'm paranoid about this year. I had 2 broken toes a few years ago when my daughter got married. I stuck those things into heels and once I got to our table at the reception I had my husband run to get my flip flops from the car. I hate those things, but I end up in them because I'm always breaking toes. I'm good a fingers too. I've broken every finger, but so far never a thumb. Toes?? All of them! Some at least 6 or 7 times. I'm lucky I can walk and chew gum.

Better get your order in NOW. I seem to always have a wait list on the calls.

I don't even want to try to count how many times I've broken fingers & toes.

You had to clean that up!

Once the dogs broke a nest of rotten eggs that were under the house. My mom then has us crawl under the house to clean it up and spray it with Lysol.

NOT a good combination....We spent the night with relatives...

The eggs should be fine. We worry too much about opening the incubator when shrink wrap is usually caused by other things.
